Or, think of it as the chlorine of the gene pool. ☺️
Not enough accidents there to make it worth the cost.

I live in Forest Cove and my wife, kids and I go in and out of there on a daily basis. It definitely can be dangerous during heavy traffic times and needs a light. I'm willing to get slowed down a bit if it makes things safer for my family. 4951

@deltadawn:

Changes to Hamblen including widening and adding turning lanes were recently discussed at a Forest Cove meeting and people went ape **** about it. A bunch of old codgers resistant to change were all whining and freaking out because its going to make it more of a "cut through". The way I see it is people are all ready cutting through and will continue to do so in droves (that is not going to stop).Why not make the whole thing safer and better for everyone including the residents and the people cutting through? The truth is Hamblen is falling apart, way to narrow, flood prone, dangerous and congested. It needs a complete makeover badly. 4951

Prayers for the family who lost a loved one today.  That spot is too dangerous to have cars crossing over.  I don't mind being inconvenienced by a light if it will save lives.  We live in Forest Cove and Hamblen Road is in horrible condition.  The City will have to address this issue and override the "old codgers" in FC who can't move forward with progress.  To the IDIOT who stated today's fatality was helpful to the gene pool I pray KARMA finds you soonEmoticon 4951

I would guess that most of the traffic comes from the south, which the light would only lightly impact.  Fewer coming from the north but that is one risky crossing - two lanes straight through at highways speeds, one right turn, unless they change their mind at the last minute.  It is a white knuckle move to pull across there.I am usually resistant to additional lights but that is one crossing that needs it.  4951

@ZMAN:

The townhall meeting was turned down because it would NOT do anything to improve Hamblen, only add a left turn lane at Forest Cove Dr. It did nothing to allow for the non-turning traffic to be able to pass by! The left turners back the traffic up to the golf course and no one can avoid the backup!

There were questions asked of Dave Martin about improving Hamblen or doing something about the dangerous situation at 494, but the response was the CoH Public Works is so we should contact about improving the condition of Hamblen and TxDOT is who to contact about getting a light at 494!

He said that the money he had to offer was strictly dedicated for the left lane project and since the majority of people in the community did not want the left turn lane, he would take it off the table!

If the traffic o in Kingswood is so bad, why doesn't the citizens agree to widening both Kingwood Dr and Northpark! Everytime the subject is brought up it's poopooed! Yet Kingwood is fine with 'improving' the left turning on Hamblen!

While I agree with you about the karma...this thread was started 7 months ago and someone revived it this morning.

I'm not an 'old codger', I live in the community and I drive Hamblen daily! (Yes, I am moving, but I still have my house there! )

Dave Martin was not interested in improving the community, he was answering a call from Kingwood drivers to get them a better shortcut so they didn't gave to wait in the congestion getting in and out areas of Kingwood. 4951
