Is there any part of Galveston you can go to and not have to worry about the flesh eating bacteria? I would like to take my kiddo before summer is over but I am terrified to go near the water.  4951

There is a website....I think it's texasbeachwatch.com ...that the state of Texas maintains.  You can click on areas/beaches and see what the bacteria count is.  There are several spots where it's been recently very low or at normal levels.(There is ALWAYS some bacteria in our lovely waters, unless we've had a long drought and the winds have been from the north.) 4951

No reports of flesh eating bacteria here... :
you don't need tickets for everything, just the lazy river if that's all you want to do...

My parents have a place in Jamaica Beach. Levels have been normal. We were in the water last weekend and none of us have died yet. 4951

Make sure to stop for lunch at the Mosquito Cafe. The lemonade cake is worth the drive alone. 4951
