The Supreme Court issued a one-sentence ruling today concerning President Obama's immigration plan: "The judgment is affirmed by an equally divided Court."Â
Full StoryStatement From Mayor Turner:"Today’s decision from the U.S. Supreme Court was not a decision at all.  A favorable ruling would have removed the fear of deportation and separation that more than 200,000 eligible immigrants in the greater Houston metropolitan area live with every day.  This legal fight has been bad for the economy, hurts families and has stalled desperately needed changes to the federal government’s immigration policies.  The men, women and children impacted by this want to feel free to come out of the shadows and work toward the American Dream.  They are business owners, customers, students, and parents who simply want a brighter future.  It is disappointing that the court did not provide the clarity they so desperately need." 4951
