Good morning all!  I have been working every angle I know to find our loved dogs new homes (either temporary or permanent). We found out the week before last that we are being transferred to the Middle East and we cannot, in good conscience, bring them with us.  We have a lot of folks saying "if you can't find anyone else, we may be willing to take one of them" but haven't found anything definite for either.  I know there are a lot of dog lovers on here from all of my post perusing, and I know that many of you will disagree with our decision making to rehome them.  Regardless, I am asking that if y'all know of someone who would welcome one or both of these pups into their home, that you please contact me. I have to try every avenue available to me!   I will want references and a rehoming fee from anyone I don't know or who I cannot find a connection with here in the "bubble," for their safety and our peace of mind, but will waive it should we find that we have friends in common and/or a great vet referral.  Thank you for looking and feel free to email me at aimboatatoutlookdotcom if you  may have a good lead. You might want to read your contract with Corridor- many rescues have a clause that you contact them if you can not keep the dog- so they may be able to help. While I do disagree with you not taking them I feel for your situation. I know for myself I wouldn't be moving out of the country without them. Just understand that placing them right now is going to be tough- the rescues are full of Spring pups and dogs from the recent floods. Older dogs ( aka not puppies) are hard to placeGood luck 4951

@Jpgurl: We had friends that moved to the middle east when we lived there, and brought their dogs with them.  It was a very difficult experience, for both them and their dogs, and I would not recommend to others to try and move their dogs there, based on what I saw.  Between the airlines, quarantine, local animal control by poisoning, and lack of regard for animal life, it's not worth it.

Thanks to you both!  @Jpgurl, I failed to mention that I contacted CRI back when this move was first being discussed and was told that I should exhaust all options before coming back to them.  You are right, I fear, that they are overwhelmed as it is. I have also contacted the kennel where Doug stayed before we adopted him, and they are reaching out to all of their rescue contacts and/or looking into a long term kennel stay, but I am not counting on either option.@buffaloglenn, you hit the nail on the head.  Both dogs would be permanently altered by the move and I am quite certain it would kill Doug.  All of my reading tells me that labs and lab mixes don't do well there to begin with, and we will be moving in August.  I cannot subject them to that. Thanks for any leads anyone may be able to provide!!! 4951

You can tey contacting Friends 4 Life. They are a no kill animal shelter and rescue. We got our Fred puppy (don't let the puppy part fool you, he's going on 7 years old) from them, and they were just awesome all the way round. They do a mixture of keeping the animals at the shelter and fostering, so you might have a good chance of getting help from them.
