It makes more sense at a hobby store. People who make wreaths and decor need/want an early start.

Now if this was Target or something, it would be criminally early and worthy of a protest and a loud public shaming. 4951

I noticed the Halloween stuff out and thought it was a little early for that! By the time I get around to xmas decorating the good stuff is gone and I am left with the picked over stuff nobody wants. But I refuse to shop for christmas when it's 100F outside!! 4951

@donnatella:

It'd be okay at Target too. With only a cpl registers open and a bathroom decision jamming the facilities it could be Christmas by the time you get out of the store. 4951

@Maisey1: Good point. Just think of all the vendors at the Nutcracker Market and various Fall and holiday craft shows. They have to prep months in advance to be ready to sell items in the Fall. 4951

UGG!  Last year I didn't see this stuff till August.  It is just too early and it does not make me happy to see it.  It does not make me happy to see that Christmas is coming.  I think it makes people dread Christmas.  It makes me way too aware of the pending deadline.   4951

The worse the economy is or is perceived to be by retailers, the earlier they will start Christmas sales. At this rate, it won't be too long until there is a year-round Christmas section in most stores. 4951

@donnatellaActually makes perfect sense that the crafters need to prepare well in advance.  Great point. 4951

To stores like this....... BAH, HUMBUG!!!   I don't want to even think about Christmas until after Thanksgiving and it's become so commercialized, I don't like Christmas as much as I used to. 4951
