>> Do you ENJOY being your own boss?
Like really enjoy it? Not the business deductions but true satisfaction?
Yes, but everyone has a boss.  In this case my boss is my primary client. Granted, I don't have to deal with the BS of annual reviews and so forth. Other than misc org stuff, I'm pretty much a full time perm that is paid as a consultant.  So, truthfully, I just really really like the deductions.  Based on contract, I'm free to take on additional clients... but this has been more than full time.  Maxed out.

>> Â What's your 5 year plan?Â
I might not be alive in 5 years. So no long term plan other than not being **** off all the time. Seriously, no point.  At least until I find out the progression rate of a medical issue I have.  Once that's established and if it's good, I'll start thinking about long term plans.  I have to keep working because 1) I enjoy it and gives me purpose 2) making sure my son is fully funded for college and the rest of his lifeand yeah, there is an ego aspect to this.  I have something to prove.  I'm a type A person, and fading gently into the night is just not my style.  If I go in as a perm, I go in as a VP... and that's a bucket item. >> Are your parents independent on your close proximity to them? Would you enjoy living in the new locale?
Parents are independent but starting to have issues. Â They are saying they won't move so far, but they probably will. Â It may be that they keep two places for a while and go back and forth. Â I have other family in the new location as well, so multiple benefits. The new locale is awesome! Â

Sounds like your decision is made. Sorry about your health but congrats Mr. VP!
Best part of this is it doesn't sound like you will be stuck if it doesn't work out. You can always go back to contract work, if necessary. Take the leap! You never know where it may lead you. 4951
