Stalled my wife for a year, really sold the sizzle on waiting for the latest and greatest new model. I am now backed into a corner. The car is tagged for me to go pick up this evening. Loaded Cadillac XT5.Very difficult for me being the frugal bastard that I am but you can't win em' all. I spent a whole year checking out every brand, really digging in the weeds which caused much tension but I think we made the right choice. The new Mazda CX9 is also nice but lacks power. That would have been my second choice, it had that third row and they made the interior much nicer.   One feature I love on the XT5 is the rear view mirror is a camera while driving so never a blind spot. Also a projection on the windshield of gauges so no looking down at the gauge panel.   4951

Old car was still running great but 12 years old...worn out seats, broken cup holders, other little minor things but other than that no issues. Right at 200K miles, probably good for another 100. I took good care of it but it is time. 4951

@beastmode: I've been shopping for two and a half years.  Same boat, I have an 11 year old car that is mechanically sound but minor things are wearing out with age.  Each minor thing that happens gets me looking again.  I keep thinking that the longer I push it off, the nicer the next one will be.

@ForeCPA90: Thinking now is a good time, the technology is starting to level out. Not much more they can do other than make it drive itself.

@beastmode: You did good. Never thought I'd be a Cadillac man but I bought my first (99 Eldo) in 2000 or so (I like to buy a yr or 2 old with 10-20K mi's versus new) and haven't bought anything else since. This last time I was set on getting something else (I get bored with the same thing/brand quick-new golf clubs/woman (lol) every cpl yrs) this last time as I've had 6 or so-drove everything in it's class (and out) and just couldn't find anything I liked. The STS before the one I have now I had for 6 yrs (longest I ever had a car by triple)-they are just good cars that last and still look good/wear good with very little maintenance issues.Only downside to Cad's is that they lose way more value than others the first 2/3 years of being new but if you keep them longer they balance out over the years.

@beastmode: Nice, I was eyeing that but I am very leery of anything GM.   Where did you buy it, was it an internet transaction?  Give us a review once you get your hands on it.

@ET: I am to but this is their money maker so if they fail it will be a disaster. I am confident they did exceptional R&D, a lot riding on this car for Cadillac. Tom Peacock. Mainly because they are within the range of free pickup service for Kingwood. Let you know, I will give a good review after this weekend.

I have a very good friend that will get y'all a great deal at Tom peacock Cadillac if y'all ever need anything. I am holding out for a jeep want to trade in the Soccer mom mini van. It's only got 95k but it keeps getting dented in parking lots. Hit & run. Congrats on new car. 4951

I drive one too. I've driven Cadillacs for 20 years. Everyone of them I've loved. Can't go wrong with a caddy! 4951
