A few of us decided to check out Tularosa's at lunch today. We are well aware that they just opened and are in that "getting their bearing straight" first few weeks, so, of course that was taken into consideration.
It is not the typical Tex-Mex place. This is a Southwestern Grill so they do some things differently. Free chips and salsa are not part of the program, so be prepared to pay $4.00 for them and 1 free refill. Hopefully, that will change. Salsa and queso were good, especially when you add slice jalapenos to the queso.
THE RITAS WERE AWESOME!! A little slice of heaven, my favorite part, and a definite must have. I will be going back for more, likely by the end of the week.
The prices are a bit higher than the "every other Tex-Mex" place. I will post snap shots of the menu front and back so I won't go into the individual prices of things.
There is plenty of variety, from true SW Grill items, Tex-Mex, even American standards, like Burgers, Chicken Fried Steak and Chicken Fried Chicken.
Staff and servers were very nice, but are new and still training, so cut them some slack if you visit.
We talked to the GM and the bar consultant, and both told us about future plans, etc., such as happy hours, and such...always a good thing to hear. Even more reasons to go back and visit again.
