There's a house on Trailwood Village Drive that has a bunch in their front bed. May go ask them their secret. I really enjoy looking at them but haven't tried my hand...err, thumb at them. 4951

My hydrangeas are all pink now, but I'm  thrilled that they have been so full and beautiful for the last few years and are still alive! I never had much luck with them at the house we lived in before this one. 4951

I had a pink one that a friend gave me when my mother passed. It was so beautiful, the only thing about those is they have to be watered daily. It was just too much for me at the time, now I wish I had it. I have all the time in the world to tend to my plants. One of my cactus plants had three pink blooms on it this year, and my hoya plant have 5 blooms right now. Emoticon 4951

If you stick a nail in the ground near the roots of the hydrangea it can change the color, but I don't know if it makes them pink or blue. 4951

It takes time but 2.5 cups of soil acidifier but make sure you have other acidic loving plants next to them because it is caustic to other plants . Just spread around out to the drip line of plant and water in and you should see them start to change to blue but it does take time . Happy growing . 4951

Iron in the soil will turn them blue again, it is just not a quick fix. When I planted mine (before the drought some years ago killed them) I took a bunch of chopped up nails, nuts and bolts (all steel) and mixed that in with the soil in the holes I planted them in. I needed one more, and planted it also a few days later, but being basically lazy, didn't put any metal in with it. All were a nice blue except that one, it was a pink with a few light blue flowers. All the metal I put in was bear metal stuff, no coatings on it. Smaller pieces leach iron faster.

The trick is acidifying your soil. Iron can be one of the elements added to your soil, but also there's a lot of others! The Easiest way is adding Sphagum Peat Moss. I used to grow Camellias and used to have to acidify the soil as well. Buy some peat moss and update us! I'm pretty sure it'll do the trick :D Speaking of flowers, has anyone ever tried growing peonies. I've never tried in Houston? I can imagine the hot temperatures making it very difficult.  4951

@FallonDude, I am dying over here at the thought that your Hydrangea's are just feelin' overly feminine, hence the Pink shade! And I easily can picture you tellin' them, "But you're supposed to be Blue, ******!" ...And your Pink Hydrangea's respond, "You're not the boss of me! Hmmmmppppffffff!"Then you reply, "I happen to know a very skilled Bunny that can easily make you disappear..."That's just AWESOME!P.S.- My Father-In-Law purchased a few Pistachio Hydrangea's a few weeks back from Warrens, and dude, they are GORG!  ....Just beautiful.....

I planted a blue and a lime last year, they aren't looking all that strong and haven't had a bloom on either of them ever.  4951

I couldn't grow the popular hydrangeas in Colorado, but I had a bush that was a type of hydrangea, it didn't have the big poofy blooms, it bloomed white but gradually turned pink.  I was my favorite bush, it was beautiful, the new owners ripped it out.  I had to plant snowball bushes to get the big blooms, and I did have peonies.  Love them!  We got some heat in the summer, but were at a pretty high altitude and the nights were cool.  4951
