A TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator) for chronic pain?  A doctor suggested that I try one for my lower back pain.  It's supposed to block pain signals from reaching the brain.  They have electrode pads that stick on the skin and send electronic pulses into the area where you have the pain.  If so, how is/was your experience? Did it help?  What kind of TENS unit did you use (there are dozens of them available)? 4951

My friend's mom uses it with satisfaction. I will say forgetting it is on when wading in a pool is very costly. Lol 4951

Yes!!!! Love love love it. If its for your lower back the Icy Hot ones are fine. If you need it on your neck or shoulders, i would recommend the ones from walgreens that have the little pads, but it has wires to a box. The icy hot one is more convenient as it just has a little control panel that fits on the pad, hense no wires. I have both. 4951

My DH has been borrowing a wired one from my mother-in-law for his back.  He has bulging discs and we think one ruptured.  He has been using it in the morning prior to going to work.I use it on my hips sometimes because I have arthritis and it does help.  I put ice over it while it's on.Do yourself a favor, if the pads are not sticking just wet the tip of your finger and rub it on the pads and it will work fine.  Just make sure you turn it off first.  Got myself a zap once doing it without turning it off.  Will never do that again.Hope your back starts feeling better. 4951

Have used one in he past and it worked well. Good non-invasive, non-drug therapy.

There is one that Chuck Wollery pitches, but after investigating, turns out it costs over $600.

There is also and OTC one the Icy Hot is selling that is a lot cheaper.

Certainly wouldn't hurt to get one and try it out, so I vote YES.

They work fine for both that and other uses.

Enjoy.

@Stealth83: Is that a hidden naughty remark?

Oh no, it's creative. Where would small electrical surges feel good?

@Stealth83:
It's nice to see the ladies of KDC de-rail a thread with pervy talk for a change. PERVS!

My mother in laws is really old and only has 2 pads with it.  It looks like they really vary in price and the amount of leads on them.  I would love to have more.  I could do both hips at the same time.  That would be nice. 4951
