@MarT: The only answer we keep getting from them is "Soon."   4951

There's a new sign at the FM1314 exit northbound just past Northpark that says Grand Parkway. And it says no cash so it looks like you have to have a toll tag.  4951

Kinda pricey, I'm curious how much time it will cut off of the drive to Austin. Only bad thing is taking 290 to Austin, I'm not crazy about that route, but if it cuts the drive time down significantly, I'll do it. 4951

@MarT: Kinda?  Works out to 20 cents a mile.  I went all the way across Florida for $3.  The leg from 45 to 290 costs about $4.50.  I think that is outrageous.It does drop you out beyond the Outlet mall, so it will save some time on the way to Austin. Sort of worth it for that but I would hate to be a daily commuter.

Going north from Kingwood will be easy access to the parkway as there is a fly over connection.Coming south on I-69 will be a different story.  Once you exit the freeway, you must approach a red light, then turn right.  When many vehicles want to access the parkway coming south, I can see the possibility of a long back up on the feeder road. 4951

@Mrep43: Crazy to do all that work and not build it out completely.  They'll have to be back at it in a couple years based on the planned growth up north.

@ET  Definitely not daily, ouch.  We're used to paying big tolls, there's E470 in Denver, 47 miles long $14 if you have a tag, $17.45 if you do license plate billing.  We normally only took it when work was paying to/from the airport, which wasn't the full 47 miles or extreme traffic.  4951

@ET

You are correct. I drive by there frequently and shake my head wondering what were they thinking.

Try to think of any major freeway system in the Houston area, or really anywhere, where any two major traffic interchanges merge and it requires a red light stop to continue.

I dont care how much it is. I work on 45 where hardy meets up with 45 and taking 1960 SUCKS. 1314/242 sucks as well.

The real beauty is when the grand parkway opens I will only have two stoplights my entire 22 mile route to work. And three coming home. 4951

@PedroDePacas: Agreed, those are sucky rides.  You'll weigh the cost versus convenience and do whatever is right for you.  I am fortunate not to have to go that way.  It does seem to place an uneven financial burden on people in this area.

If I am understanding correctly, we will soon be able to use the Grand Parkway from 59N all the way to Fort Bend County? 4951

Wonderful!  I have a trip to San Antonio planned for the end of April and it will be so nice to bypass the Houston traffic. 4951
