Moles will typically leave a humped up trail across your grass.  They are looking for grubs to eat. 4951

No trails. Just about half a dozen holes like that. Is it snakes? They are fairly good sized. 4951

Doesn't look like moles. Been seeing a lot of holes like this when walking to dog in the Greenbelt. Maybe ask the people at Kingwood Garden Center? 4951

I see some thing similar over on the golf course but there are long trails of ants marching in and out carrying chunks of leaves.  Might be snakes if no ants. 4951

The classic sign of moles is the raised ridge of dirt where they traveled under and then a few small hills of dirt where they dug to surface.

What you have looks like an armadillo or squirrel digging down for grubs or acorns. Garden center folks can probably assist. 4951

squirrels ...they will dig holes like that to find food they have buried months before .  When we lived in Kingwood a few years ago a family of armadillos tore up our front yard , we had to re-sod the entire front yard . Not a good experience.  4951

I have a client in Barrington that has holes like that all thruout their yard. They told me it was from armadillos. Don't know if it is in fact armadillos but I do see lots of them in Barrington and Trailwood. 4951

If ya ants, they must be some big mother f-ers. The holes could fit a golf ball in the top, then it gets a little more narrow. 4951

If it's armadillos, should I be worried about my dog with them? I know they carry a ton of nasty diseases. Any suggestions on how to get rid of them? My backyard is no paradise, so it's not like it is ruining my grass or anything. Just don't want an unexpected guest coming in my dog door. 4951

A golf ball could probably nestle right into the top part, but as it goes into the ground it is thinner. I can measure it tomorrow. But it's pretty sizable. 4951
