The American Pickers Are Coming Kingwood is excited to welcome Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz and Antique Archeology to the area. The team will film episodes of their hit series AMERICAN PICKERS throughout Texas. Filming is scheduled for early February, and they are looking for leads from you! AMERICAN PICKERS is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique ‘picking’ on History. This hit show follows two of the most skilled pickers in the business, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, as they embark on an epic road trip across the U.S. in search of America’s most valuable antiques from motorcycles, classic cars and bicycles to one-of-a-kind vintage memorabilia. Mike and Frank are on a mission to recycle America, restore forgotten relics to their former glory, and learn a thing or two about American history along the way. AMERICAN PICKERS is looking for leads and would love to explore what you may have. They are on the hunt for interesting characters with interesting and unique items.  Some of what they look for: vintage bicycles, toys, unusual radios, movie memorabilia, advertising, military items, folk art, vintage musical equipment, vintage automotive items, early firefighting equipment, vintage clothing, pre-50’s western gear. AMERICAN PICKERS is produced by Cineflix Productions for History. New episodes air Wednesdays at 9pm ET on History. If you have a large collection or want to refer someone to Mike and Frank, email: your name, number, address and description of the collection and photos to: americanpickers@cineflix.com or call 855-OLD-RUST (855-653-7878).   4951

There used to be a guy in the Heights around 19th & Yale (?) that would be perfect for these guys. Last time DH and I were there, his place was still there, but he wasn't open... One of the antique shop owners close by said he was sick... We haven't been back, so I don't know if his "stuff" is still there or not... 4951

Most of these suburbs around Houston are getting around 40 - 50 years old The oldest hoods are Heights Bellaire River Oaks myerland. The wards are also from the same era. With all those floods I wonder how they will find anything. Someone has got stuff hoarded up. I was in downtown Texas City guy had 8 to 9  50's era cars in a warehouse. 4951

I enjoyed the show for a while.  Their claims that they double their money on almost every item is extremely questionable.  While they're not doing anything wrong, I sometimes feel they take advantage of some people. 4951

My grandson had me watching every show. Between that and Pawn Stars, we found ourselves watching the clock, anxiously awaiting.

Ever since I learned House Hunters was all fake, I don't watch any of these "scripted reality" shows. 4951

@donnatella:  Same here.  I loved the people, but that got old after a while.  Also, I learned that some of the really neat historical items brought in are set up.  The on-site producers get people to bring in that really neat and interesting stuff, they do some authenticity checks, dicker for a bit, and then the owner brings it back home, having never intended to sell it in the first place.

I've never seen them take advantage of people. In fact I often think they are overpaying. But they have some very high end customers, the people Mike calls the over-the-rainbow customers who will pay top dollar for the right stuff. If I paid what they do for most of that stuff, I'd be stuck with it. 4951

It's all fake. They "picked" a guy I know and he said it was pretty fake.

He said first a guy from the history channel came out and took pictures of his collection and had him sign a contract. Then when the day came for Mike and frank to come they showed up in a huge rock star bus. Some other guy drove their van. They just drove it up his driveway for tv.

He also said that they bought everything off camera first then had a fake reanactment for the camera.

It's just like all the other tv shows on today with a bunch of fake drama. 4951

@Retired_Engineer: I don't know there have been quite a few times I have seen someone give them a price and the Pickers will tell them that the price is too cheap and give them more....  Cool show, between that show and the auction shows we saw a small surge in our business.

@Jeff1928:

Had a really good laugh with my brother.

He saw something bought by the pickers on TV and he wanted it.

I bet him his price offer that he couldn't buy it.

He contacted them and they laughed at him, telling him that it was a show that he was watching and hardly any of the stuff was ever available for sale through them.

We used my winnings to go get drunk!

Win-Win situation!
