And here we go, first week back to work and the craziness begins.  Long story short, co-worker sends me a copy of a document that I requested.  I thank her for it, then I asked for the source, so naturally, I can get it for myself next time and not bother her for it.  Well, little do I know that was threatening to her because 30 seconds after sending it to me she said she doesn't remember where she found it.  Okay, fine, let the games begin.  Instead of having words with her, I set out on a mission, NOT to play her silly office games, and to find it for myself.  I ask another "in the know" co-worker, who no only has the document, but has the original email and name of the source of the document and is very willing to share document, source and other "how to" info on other resources that I wasn't aware of.  Original co-worker hears about it and is now mad at me, for not just accepting the document and being grateful that she provided it...her words exactly.  "This is supposed to be teamwork" she said.  I thanked her again for the document and agreed it was great team work, but in addition to the copy, I wanted to learn where to find it so I could go to the source myself instead of bothering her.  Seems her security blanket is being the one in the know, then having people rely on her to solve their problems. Well, unfortunately, that is just not what I am about.  I'm an ask once, pay attention, then learn to do for myself type person.    4951

Maybe spending your time to become an person "in the know" would be better, maybe what she did when she was not in the know. Teamwork does not mean let me benefit from your hard work. If in fact she did not ask for information when she did not know and put the extra effort to find out herself (this may be why she knew the answer so quickly), she in fact tried to help you. 4951

Jeez.  I feel you.  I fully admit - I don't play well with others.  Things like that are why.I'm dealing with someone who I believe is dragging his feet for the very purpose of proving to me that he doesn't appreciate a last-minute rush request.  Forget that it wasn't MY last-minute request, it was our client's, and his continued foot-dragging is just going to place us ALL under the fire by the end of the week when everyone is trying to close this deal.  But you know, go ahead and make your passive-aggressive point, jerk. 4951

@tguid18:  She's not mad that I asked her, she's mad that I found out the source when she refused to tell me.  She wants to be the ONLY ONE in the know and have people rely on her and ask her for things. I asked someone else to show me where to find it, and show me a few other things so I COULD be in the know and not have to ask her in the future, which for some reason is very threatening to herShe did help when she provided the document, but I also asked where she found it, so I could find it again in the future (she only emailed a copy of the document which removes the file number and coding so I can find it myself.)  The document was created by someone else and emailed to her, she didn't create it herself.  .

hair; not being able to preform your job scope is very taxing, in my short 43 years of work experience, I always found that if you took the time to learn your job to the VERY best of your ability, the stress would decline to the point of being a non factor, and when you do this other people that did not put the effort in will look at people that did as jerks......IT IS ALWAYS EASIER TO PULL PEOPLE DOWN TO YOUR LEVEL, THAN TO CLIMB UP TO THIERS 4951

I am a very independent person, both personally and at work.  If I don't know something, I will find out and won't be out of the know for long.  Next time, I will either remember, or have detailed notes so I can work independently without having to ask again. She likes to mother people and take care of them, have them totally dependent on her.  If people learn how to do for themselves, perhaps she won't feel needed.  Maybe that's job security in her eyes, but it is cumbersome when trying to work with someone like that.  They will share product, but not know-how. 4951

I have had similar situations around my office. However, I always went about my day not caring if they were **** or not. If me finding a damn file without bugging someone and waiting on them to get off the phone or the toilet and they get **** about that, then hey that is their personal problem. It is also getting in the way of achieving our mission. My advice to anyone is to stay the hell away from office drama and politics. In the end, the team players and the ones focusing on the mission will be successful. The drama queens and politics players bounce around job to job blaming everyone else except themselves for their failures. Those that stay away from the BS of office politics and go above and beyond to make every project a success are the ones that get promoted. There used to be this one lady in my office who thought she was just so above everyone in our department. She would talk behind peoples back and suck up to management but they saw through her crap. These days she still calls begging for her old position back. And guess who she calls now? Me. Every time I tell her to send a resume and it goes straight to the garbage. 4951

@PedroDePacas:  People with enough time to make that much trouble have too much time on their hands.
