Boy are my hands bothering me this morning, I probably overdid it this week what with working on my car and then doing some cabinet building in the wood shop. Had to take some Alieve for the arthritis and I have a few trigger fingers that always act up in the morning which makes even holding a cup of coffee a dangerous event. Muscle cramps, too. Just moving the mouse and my right hand cramps up.  My dad was an avid tennis player and said cramps were from a lack of potassium. Better eat a few bananas I guess. 4951

@Nurse3: I used to think " but it still beats the alternative" . But now I think it depends on how punishing old age becomes. I visit nursing homes and see people who seem to be wishing they could die, it hurts to see them suffer.

@uneasyrider: To true.  I see this everyday that I work.  I have no problem with dying, except I still have young children at home.  Once they are out and on their own, if it's my time, it's my time.  I worry about the suffering though.  I see so many families holding on tight to their elderly loved ones that are terminal and in a lot of pain, but the family does not want to let go.  It makes me sooo very sad.

@ET: Yes and I'm pushing fluids. I've spent a lifetime using my hands and they just bother me sometimes.  A hand doctor I saw suggested heating some uncooked rice in a microwave and putting my hands in and moving them around in the warm grains. Might try that.

I have arthritis in my hands and cortisone helps a lot, for months! I go to Dr. Stanislaw, an orthopedic surgeon at Fondren here in Kingwood.         It's really amazing when nothing else helps. 4951

@Chrisinkingwood:

If you get tired of bananas, avocados and dates are also high in potassium. Larabars are a yummy way to eat dates. It is the sweetener and the binder. They are $1 each at kroger. Also, consider taking a magnesium & calcium supplement, as those help potassium absorption into the muscles. 4951
