My unit is a year and a half old and I've had more problems with it than I should. It's set on 74 and it was 76 in here an hour ago, now it's 77. Is that normal because it's so hot outside?
@topcat: Get a thermometer and set it in one of your vents for a few minutes. It should be cooling the air to -20 degrees or so compared to the temp in your house, so if it's 80 inside, your inside air should be blowing at about 60 degrees at your vent. If not, the AC isn't fully charged or you have a problem with the air distribution (ducts).AC guys are notorious for not sizing the AC right (unit too small, and we all know bigger is better) on newer homes, because the builders don't really care as long as the house will sell; then it becomes the new owners' problem.Â
