my neighbor to the immediate left. Not only is the yard horrible there is rotten wood all over the outside of the house. The garage door has rotten wood holes in it, it's an old school wooden garage door. Just wrote another letter to the hoa about it. The yard was mowed when I first looked at the house but within about a month of me buying they decided to stop paying the yard crew. I'm getting really sick of looking at that garbage everyday gd day! 4951

I don't have a mower or I would. I use a yard crew, that refused to mow it because she owes them money. 4951

Wouldn't be a bad yard if it was mowed. I'd be afraid of all the slithering things in it. 4951

@FrancitaHave you only contacted the HOA, or have you actually spoken directly with the home owners, chica?  ....As @Fallon  stated, maybe there's an honest, legitimate reason for the undesirable, and non-maintenance of the property, such as a serious illness, hospitalization, injury, death in the family, loss of employment, nervous breakdown, etc etc ...  So, perhaps try walking over there at some point this weekend, and see if you can find out what exactly the dealio is, and inquire if the others neighbors, or a church group, can pitch in, and help get it cleaned up....                                                                             (I say that depending on the exact reason though...) 4951

@Francita: The hoa can send a lawn crew and a bill to the homeowners. If they don't pay, the hoa can put a lien on the home. I've seen this first hand so I know they do it.

Its is two elderly sisters that live there, not that eldery, 70's. My parents are 70's and they are always on the go. A neighbor used to do her yard for her, according to him, they got in some tiff because he found out that she CAN afford it but chooses to not pay for anything around her home because her mindset is 'people should do it for me'. I have only seen her twice in the year I've lived here. They come and go when I'm at work. My other neighbor has lived here for 15 years and is fed up with her and refuses to do it anymore. He said when he found out that she can afford it, (he didn't give details but I assume insurance money) he asked her about it then she jumped all over him with stuff like she's paid her dues and her husband died and she is old and people should help her. The lawn crew refuses to mow it anymore as well. Basically she has burned bridges and people don't want to have anything to do with them. I am not going to offer to help since I know the history. I assume those ladies just want to live there until it falls down around them. Have I knocked on the door, no. Last time I contacted the HOA, someone did their yard for a few months. Hoping the same thing happens. 4951

Walk over there with a mower and cut it down. Why complain on a internet forum? Maybe they will offer a little money for the help. 4951

I would be worried about the safety issues of snakes. I'd start calling the HOA daily telling them you are afraid of the potential snakes. Keep calling as long as it stays out of control. They will get tired of it and do something. Then I would turn to the homeowners, regardless of their age. They have an obligation to do the minimum to keep up their yard.

@friday1: So what's your point besides a guy invented big ugly stomping in the mud and grass boots? It certainly wasn't a WOMAN because they are butt-ugly.
