I do think it is extreme, but they were asked not to do it. If there were no consequences what keeps people from doing it? As mentioned several schools do this at a place where they have rented an amount of time. If each parent thought I will only cheer a little bit and break the rules, that adds up. Every time someone cheers they announcer has to pause to announce the next graduate.
That's what's wrong with this world. Everyone thinks they have the right to do whatever they want and it's no big deal. Have some common courtesy folks. If it wasn't a big deal and didn't matter then the school wouldn't have a policy about it. But the school had their reason and now this person must suffer the consequence! Too damn bad, follow the rules. It's not all about you!
@aggiebutterfly:  But the graduation is all about the graduates. So much work goes into that, they deserve to be recognized individually. The graduations I've been to there is always a pause between names as the graduate walks across the stage and gets their diploma.Sorry, I don't care, my kids is getting a woo hoo from me when he graduates in a couple years. Arrest me if you want, but he worked hard, and I want him to know I'm proud of him!
