I have many, but I've always enjoyed David & Goliath. The words he said before he cast the stone... chills.

One day David, the youngest son of Jesse, was sent to the battle lines by his father to bring back news of his brothers. David was probably just a young teenager at the time. While there, David heard Goliath shouting his daily defiance and he saw the great fear stirred within the men of Israel. David responded, "Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of God?"

So David volunteered to fight Goliath. It took some persuasion, but King Saul finally agreed to let David fight against the giant. Dressed in his simple tunic, carrying his shepherd's staff, slingshot and a pouch full of stones, David approached Goliath. The giant cursed at him, hurling threats and insults.

David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied ... today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air ... and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel ... it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give all of you into our hands."

I love the Old Testament story of Joseph, being sold into slavery by his 10 jealous brothers. (The youngest #12 didn't participate.) They were jealous because their father Jacob, made it obvious that Joseph was the favorite and had woven him a coat of many colors. The brothers dipped the coat into lambs blood and told their father he had been killed by a wild animal. After Joseph was sold into slavery, he went to work in the prestigious House of Potiphar because he could count. Potiphar's wife tried to seduce him, and when he resisted, she accused him of rape. He was sent to prison where he accurately interpreted some dreams for other prisoners, one of whom was soon released and returned to work for the Pharoah. He promised Joseph he would remember him. When the Pharoah had a dream that none of his experts could figure out, this man remembered Joseph and recommended him to the Pharoah. Joseph was able to tell the Pharoah exactly what he had seen in his dream and what it meant. Joseph predicted 7 years of plenty followed by 7 years of famine, and suggested the Pharoah plan accordingly. The Pharoah made Joseph second in command, essentially the Prime Minister of Egypt. Eight years later, Egypt was the only country with any food. People came from every land in search of aide. Joseph's brothers had travelled from Israel to Egypt to beg for food. When Joseph saw them, he recognized them, but they did not recognize him. He revealed himself to them as he wept. They were ashamed and afraid for what they had done, but he forgave them. He told them, "you meant it for evil, but God meant it for good." 4951
