So, here's the dealio, my friends:  Yesterday, I was washing up / taking the labels off of my empty Pierre water bottles (those green, glass bottles....)  I like to keep at least a few around, as they can be re-used in a number of ways....  Anywho, I wanted to remove that lil' gold ring that was still attached on the bottle (from when you twist off the top,) and my scissors were unable to cut it off, (I tried that first off the bat,) so I grabbed a freshly sharpened steak knife, thinking that I could insert the tip of the blade underneath the ring,  hence, easily snapping it right off....  Or, I thought to myself, this could go very wrong, and I could quite possibly end up injuring myself.....  And as sketchy as I legitimately knew it was, I went against my better judgment, and exactly what I thought could happen, did happen...  I ended up slicing (more like stabbing) myself in the left hand, in the area between the index finger, and the thumb, pretty darn nastily...  It's pretty gnarly if I say so myself, dudes, and I still get weak in the knees still simply re-calling the incident...Straight off the jump, when I saw all the blood, I basically lost consciousness, came around, got sick to my stomach, yacked, called my hubbs at work, who when I informed of how bad the incision was, he asked,    "Is it like Step Brothers bad, bub?"  Then when he heard me yackin' again, he realized that I wasn't just joshin' around, and booked it home....Anywho, I ended up waiting (more like putting off) to hit up the Minor ER until his afternoon, as I started to get a little nervy with the wound still hemorrhaging, only to learn this most very important notice, that I felt most compelled to share: **STITCHES ARE ONLY PERFOMED WITHIN THE FIRST 6 HOURS** of the incision, due to infection issues...  So, basically my bo-bo could only get cleaned, and bandaged, where the doc said it really could have used 3-4 stitches...  Ooops, my bad...  I had absolutely NO clue about this "Stitches Time Frame Rule"...  But, now I do, and knowing is half the battle....          4951

Oh girlie keep that puppy clean!!! No cleaning or yard work for you until t heals. Any sign of redness or swelling, do not pass go, do not collect $200, GO TO THE DOCTOR IMEDIATELY!!!!!! If it's a deep stab wound you have to extra careful, because bacterial can get trapped in there when the top portion heals over. Please pay special attention to it for a couple of weeks. I'm so sorry you got hurt chica. Be safe. 4951

Hope you get better!!
I just stabbed my hand this afternoon a little under my index and middle finger trying to make a whole in the bottom,of a container . I pushed the knife to hard and it ended up cutting me
I only bled for like 2 minute but my hand is in pain

Its deeper than it looks
And all my fingers hurt

@Nurse3I've actually got to go back tomorrow for a Tetanus Shot, as they were out, and had just re-ordered supplies ...  The doc also gave me three scripts: Ibuprofen 800 mg (for pain / swelling,) Bactrim Antibiotic Ointment (for the wound,) and an Antibiotic to take by mouth for precautionary measures...I have a return appointment scheduled for Thursday, so she can check the healing, but did inform me that if it goes numb, starts tingling, is unable to move, or turns blue, to head to the hospital STAT like...  And not wait like I initially did....        4951

Girlfriend- we must be sisters!!! Years ago I smashed that same area between two pipes and tore the crap out of it- I waited till the next day to see the doc and found out about the time rule too!!
BUT I found out something even better- super glue!!! I've been able to avoid stitches several times. its got to be clean tho- you don't want to seal germs in and it can't get wet- super glue is water soluable.
That area will bleed for weeks!! Take care 4951

@yankeejessica: The wifey says I should wear one. I get to going with the knife, and sometimes take a little off the side/top of my fingertip. As a matter of fact, I did it this evening while chopping some green onions. I cut a lot of stuff though, so I'm thinking(percentage-wise) I'm doing good. Emoticon
