Ok, I decided to actually read the article. Let me break it down (from my perspective).- I can go shopping alone most of the time, pretty well assured that I will not be followed or harassed. Some validity to this. I've witnessed African Americans being followed in stores more often than I've seen other groups followed. However, I've
ersonally been tailed in stores (when younger) and I'm so pale I could be a goth. Apparently, I didn't get the "white people" exception. However, as said earlier, some validity to this one.- I can turn on the television or open to the front page of the paper and see people of my race widely represented.Total joke. The media puts African Americans (and other goups) in roles that actually make no sense at all. Saw a show set in Medieval England with an African knight. Chalk this item up as totally absurd.- When I am told about our national heritage or about civilization, I am shown that people of my color made it what it is.Well, we are part of western culture which is
redominately European based, so duh. How many non Europeans were part of the founding of this nation????? Are we being asked about cultures in Asia as well? Stupid question.- I am never asked to speak for all the people of my racial group.Too stupid to even address.- If a traffic cop pulls me over, or if the IRS audits my tax return, I can be sure I haven't been singled out because of my race.Cops absolutely give minorities a harder time. Without question. Doesn't even need to be debated. But the IRS? LOL!!!!!! (just the opposite)- I can take a job with an affirmative action employer without having coworkers on the job suspect that I got it because of race.If that happens, blame affirmative action. End it. Because yes, its existence does make people question qualifications. (and it should). Hell they were putting people in Mission (f'ing) Control at NASA on an affirmative action plan. Do you really want anyone who isn't the best in a role like that? 4951
