Dance Moms is one of my guilty pleasure vices. I wasn't a huge fan of Asia and her despicable mom, and I feel sure I will not want to watch this show glorifying someone raising a despicable, rude and entitled precocious child. HOWEVER, I am a but curious about the show.

Does anyone else watch it? Any opinions? 4951

I did watch both of them last night and I can honestly say that I'm not sure I will be watching them again.  Dance Moms is just way out of hand and these women physically fighting is a bit much.  That is not a good portrayal of real Dance Moms and is really giving dance a bad name.  Raising Asia....well, what did you expect.  Probably will not be watching that one again either.  4951

@donnatella: I missed the last few episodes last season. Did Asia's mom have her mole removed, or did I imagine that in the preview?

I have no idea. She was my least favorite person on the show so I didn't pay much attention to her. 4951

@attila: I think it was Kalani's Mom who had the HUGE mole on her face.   Asia's mom has a smaller dark mole that is not nearly as distracting.  I watched Raising Asia.  Her choreographer is that dude that was the choreographer for the Candy Apples.   They are grooming her to be the next Beyonce and the mother only spends time with Asia, completely ignoring the youngest daughter.  Although, that might just be for show.

I was under the impression that the show was grooming Maddie to be the next big thing.  You have to admit, Asia's mom is much more aggressive and likely has been pushing everywhere they go to make sure her daughter is ultimately on top.  Also, Maddie seems like she is 100% dance, where Asia wasn't to be an all-around entertainer with dance as a major part of it.

I also think Asia and her new show is why Abby Lee is trying so hard to be the standing-in Mom-ager to Maddie's younger sister, Mackenzie.  She wants a piece of the action.  On the show last season, she tried to pit the two up against each other.  Azia's mom quickly whisked her off to be a superstar, leaving them behind, and that likely stung Abby a bit.

But really, how many spin-offs can one show have?  We have the original Dance Moms, then Dance Mom's Miami which doesn't look like it lasted but one season, then there's the competition show, starting Abby, then the dance stuidio clean up show, again, staring Abby, now there's Raising Asia.  4951

I could only tolerate about 15 minutes of Dance Moms.  Not interested in any spinoffs.  That Abby woman and the mothers should be charged with mental cruelty to those girls. 4951

I think one of the girls was in Sia's new music video
@mm4731:

Yes.  That's Maddie in the video.  I just watched it for the first time and she did do a good job like you said.

This show is one of my guilty pleasures also.  If I remember that it's on I watch it, if not I watch it on demand.  It just amazes me how the moms act.  Granted when I was a kid none of us danced as good as these kids but our parents never behaved like that and we did competitions also.

I only watched a few minutes of the Asia show.  I always wonder what kinds of jobs these parents have that it seems like they never work and can pay for all this stuff for their kids. 4951

@Puzzles: ...and she's only going to get worse because she is now surrounded by people who refuse to correct her properly and keep her down to earth and grounded.  It's great to have goals and ambition, but she's already plotting world domination and has a stage mom willing to move heaven and earth to make that happen.  Two peas in a pod and I'm not sure which one is more despicable. 4951
