Just read an article that says that not only does repetitive, long lasting lack of sleep fog the brain, it causes irreversible damage, killing neurons. I'm VERY bad at getting enough sleep: it's nothing for me to wake up at 8 am and not fall asleep until 4 am the next morning. So how about you guys? Do you make sure you get enough sleep? 4951

I do NOW.  During college, I knew the importance of sleep and never pulled all-nighters.  Once I started working, I usually went to bed around 10pm and got up around 4:30am.  I would sleep later on weekends! 4951

In my 20's I slept like a rock, babies came not so much, teenagers and menopause came- not at all, now I'm usually in bed between 8-9 and up by 5-6. Lately I have the 3 AM anxiety hour and then I sleep a bit later. The 3AM thing sucks but I know it will stop soon- just me getting used to Spring.
I will say I had definite brain fog when I couldn't sleep at all- not sure if it was from teenagers, menopause or lack of sleep- but it was bad 4951

I barely sleep at all. On good nights, I can get as much as 10 hours, but on bad nights, as little as 4 or 5. 4951

I've always needed a lot of sleep and luckily, have had few bouts of sleep troubles. Kids and stress were/are my only inhibitors.

Relatedly, I was ALWAYS the first one asleep as a kid during slumber parties. Several times I awoke to pranks because of it. Once I woke up with a pickle in my pants. 4951

I have the same sleep pattern. Menopause is mostly to blame, but also because I stress about everything. 4951

@nikkiole: At 38 I was thrown into Menopause from Breast cancer.  I have nights I never go to sleep at all.  Mostly I go to sleep at 2 o3 and wake up at six.  Its very rough.  I know what you are saying and I learned that our immune system heals only when we sleep..  That scares me

That's me. I go to bed around 12 or 1 then up at 5:30 every night/morning. I don't get enough sleep at all. On weekends I try to sleep in but I still end up getting up by 6am. I do like to take naps on the weekends. Nothing feels better than going to bed for a couple of hours during the day. 4951

I have this terrible habit of coming home from working my bootey off all day and taking a nap, meaning only to sleep for maybe an hour. But that hour always turns into 4-5 hours then I wake for a few hours and back to bed and sleep another 5-6 hours.  I have no issue with sleeping.  Just prefer the house to be completely quiet (only sounds are my fan) and completely dark.I also turn off my computer about 20-30 minutes before I go to bed, I dont have my computer in my bedroom either.  This way my mind can switch off easier. 4951

80% of the time, I sleep at least 8 hours.  Of course it means going to bed at 830 in order to get up by 430.On the weekend, I can usually sleep in until 530, maybe 630 if I am lucky.  4951
