figure out what you want to do first. a complete gut and redo or a renovation. are your cabinets sound enough to be refaced or do you want completely new cabinets? what kind of counters and what kind of cabinets and flooring? the reason for having those answers is to be sure that any people giving you prices are pricing the exact same thing. there are some shady folks who will give you a cheap price then hit you with upgrade charges because you want the better cabinets and tile rather than formica counters etc... 4951

Look on the business links on this website for contractors. Do you have a budget in mind. Don't share what it is w contractors. Get three quotes. If you are putting in granite I highly suggest going directly with a granite yard and using their installers. It will save you about 2k. Ithe guy that did my backsplash was very meticulous. He does bathroom and kitchen remodeling. Stephen is his name.. 8326576521. @kdelaney 4951

I've had experience with both Cam Contracting and Modern Home Renovation.  They are both very good. 4951

Northeast did our repairs when the tree fell on our home.  Good work.   Cam put in flooring for us.  They did good also.

I would not use lowes. In the begining of last October we payed 9000 for new countertops and backsplash. Its still not done. They are having to rip out everything and do it all over. No one ever knew what they were doing. They didn't use spacers there was scratches all over the quartz. They just redid the island and guess what its messed up so they are ripping it all out and giving us granite instead. Its a horrible horrible experiance. They scratched our new dishwasher broke my light broke our faucet. 4951

@2danes: lowes and home depot aren't contractors. they have a list of people they pick from and they just send the person on that list out to your house. probably also not the safest way to have a stranger in your house

Oh yeah we wrote a letter to the corporate people. We have had the district and store managers all over to my house and they are **** at how this all went. He said when we are finally done we will meet with them to discuss how much we will get back. It should be 100 %. Because of this we had no sink or cooktop for thanksgiving , xmas , or New Years. It sucks. 4951
