#msg6030968I have a question about shower doors . In January sometime we will have our garden tub pulled out and standing shower out in . Cleaning houses for 7 yrs I'm dreading that . So my question is do you use a squeegee ? I was thinking frosted glass ? Does anyone have an opinion ha ha ha on the doors ? I always had shower curtains ,
My shower doors are not frosted but textured in a way to make them blurry to see through so the glass is not flat so I cannot use a squeegee. I keep a microfiber rag to just wipe them down after I shower. I shower after my wife because she won't wipe down the glass.
My house was built in 1973 and this is the original walk in shower and glass. About 10-12 years ago I got tired of looking at the 40 years of scale and mineral buildup. I put 1/4 cup of Dawn dish soap in a spray bottle and topped it off with cleaning vinegar. Sprayed the glass and whole shower with the solution and let it sit for several hours then rinsed. After several applications with some light scrubbing with some soft scouring pads all the water spots were gone and the shower and glass looked brand new. Just a simple wipe down keeps heavy spotting from coming back but about once a year I spray it down with my solution and let it sit the rest of the day until I shower and once rinsed if there were any tiny spots they are gone again. Easy, and very little effort. You just have to get into the habit of wiping it down for my type of glass or using a squeegee if you have smooth glass. It doesn't even take 30 seconds and once you establish the habit you do it without thinking.

Now days many opting for no shower door. Large shower. Water stays in the shower area. Many high end homes have no door these days. More like a shower room, Rain shower from above very popular all flows to the drain if done correctly.

Shower with no door is best if you have room for slightly longer shower. I did not have the extra length so I had to use a glass shower door that I squeegee after every shower. Good exercise.
Squiggy after every shower and THEN wipe the few remaining drops up with a micro fiber. A Pain! but shower doors aren't cheap and once you get the calcium deposits on it, you have to use harsh chemicals which not only reduce the clarity of the glass but remove the film these doors have on them by the mnfgr that are supposed to resist spots and stay perfect. Frost or see through... no difference just a privacy issue. Yet, frost might mask some of the water spots. My doors are 12 years old. I've done the painful process and they look like new. I've seen the doors of those who did not always do the painful process and they are thinking of replacing them after ruining the surface with chemicals and still not clearing all the spots.

#msg6030986rocklady2024 : When I did my remodel, I opted to have a shower without doors. Tired of the hard water spots and mildew.
