#msg6020009MissAmericanPie : I want a bunch of you on the jury if I am accused

Rapsalot :
You should. I think everyone should want a jury willing to listen to facts of the case before passing judgement.

I think it's ok for everyone to share opinions before the court case but let's not take it too far.

I disagree. If you have an opinion before the case, you should not be on the jury. When I have been in the pool and the question was asked about having an opinion, if you said yes, you were excused. Ar least, that is what I remember.

Rapsalot : You claim the DA was "soft on crime until the case hit national news" except the DA took a sworn statement at the time it happened where the victim said it was consensual from what I am reading in the article I posted earlier in this same thread and another article someone provided, so what gives?

The fact that neither the DA nor police followed up tells suspicious me that they wanted it to go away. It happens when the largest employer will suffer bad press
In the NY Post there is an article about applications for admission being withdrawn since the lawsuit was filed.

it's all part of the package... SOP for assaults to not be reported to real police and the job of campus cops also is to polish the reputation and brush the dirt off

Ken Starr, former Clinton prosecutor, demoted after school's sex assaults scandal
Celebrated Baylor football coach Briles fired after sex assault accusations, convictions of players
The Associated Press · Posted: May 27, 2016 12:14 AM CDT | Last Updated: May 27, 2016

Ken Starr, who zealously pursued charges against a sitting U.S. president in a White House sex scandal, was stripped of his job as president of Baylor University on Thursday after a scathing review found that under his leadership, the school did little to respond to accusations of sexual assault involving members of its vaunted football program.

The board of regents at the nation's largest Baptist university said Starr will vacate the presidency on May 31 and stay on as chancellor and law school professor, jobs that will not include any "operational" duties for the school.

Baylor also fired football coach Art Briles and placed athletic director Ian McCaw on probation after an external investigation found the actions of football staff and athletics leadership "in some instances, posed a risk to campus safety and the integrity of the university."

The report didn't identify specific cases, but two football players have been convicted of sexual assault since 2014. In the past year, there have been multiple reports of other alleged assaults and women who said the school did nothing to help.

"We're deeply sorrowful (for) these events," Baylor regents chairman Richard Willis said. "We're honestly just horrified."

Starr gets to keep a title and a job, but his demotion at the school in Waco, Texas, is a stunning fall for the prosecutor whose dogged investigation of President Bill Clinton's relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky eventually led to Clinton's 1998 impeachment.

The review by Philadelphia-based law firm Pepper Hamilton found that under Starr, school administrators discouraged students from reporting or participating in student conduct reviews of sexual assault complaints and even contributed to or accommodated a "hostile" environment against the alleged victims.

Also I agree with you about coverups and no doubt, it happens all the time.

In many situations it is not. There are people trained for that yype of case. There are protocols.

The NY Post is now reportimg that despite the DA's claim that Jane Doe never accused anybody of a crime, she initially told the cops that she was 100% confident that she was raped.
Yes, that paper is known to exaggerate, but there goes that lame excuse from Sgt. Schultz the DA.
