HappyNew : Thank you for the recommendations, Golfshot! I WISH HappyNew could come, but I believe she lives in Louisiana! It will certainly warrant a trip though, dear lady. I have about 17 ladies coming so far. I've met many if not most of them and it will be such a fun event. And you will get to meet Golfshot's lovely wife among them!

HappyNew : You need to treat yourself for your birthday! Order a new book, buy a plant, get a massage! Spoil yourself with a treat- big or small. I usually gift myself some fancy chocolate since it isn't something I normally indulge in.
But like you, I had a quiet house and missed talking to someone. Well, the perfect little dog showed up online when I searched rescues. He was approx 3 years old, housetrained and had been found on the mean streets of Houston. Once he put a little weight on and was groomed he was gorgeous !
We are inseparable now. I take him to the neighborhood park where I have met other dog parent neighbors that I never knew I had. he loves car rides so in the evenings we go for a car ride and admire the neighborhood gardens. We know all the drivethrus that give pup cups too! I didn't realize how much joy having him in my life would give me.
I tell everyone that I didn't rescue him, he rescued me!
Today is my birthday. Sunday, September 27. I've had quite a few birthdays, many good memories, but this is the first birthday in my entire life that I am alone. I have three loving, caring, helpful daughters, but all three live in other states and have their own lives, families, and jobs to maintain. I assure them I will be all right here by myself. But I see I will have to choose carefully how to get through special days. Not just on my birthday today -- I will be alone on Thanksgiving, on Christmas, on New Year's Eve. Just me and my rollator in this house that used to comfortably fit our family of five. I have materials for possible hobbies that I have not had time to try -- watercolors and a keyboard, still new in their packaging. I recently bought a Mah Jongg set -- a challenging and interesting game. So I have choices to make my special days different and pleasant. I used to long for a quiet house. Now that's what I have and I wish I did not.

HappyNew : Happy Birthday! You share your birthday with my mom. She turned 87 years old. We were not able to visit her today. They live out of town. I called her and wished her Happy Birthday and I talked to dad. We will celebrate next time we visit. That's how we do missed birthdays. I hope you found something fun to do today.
