I have a serious, but uncomfortable question. And I need your help. I'm looking for anyone who lived in Kingwood in the 1970s who might've had a family therapist who went by "Dr. Patrick." I do not know if this was his first name or his last name. He would've been in Kingwood or Humble most likely, and I know this is a long shot. My mother decided that our family needed to go see a counselor because home life was chaos. My dad checked out early, the therapist said that I was fine and didn't need help (I did), but he said that my brother needed some intensive counseling. The therapist did something improper with my brother. He was 10. The situation destroyed our family. By 12 years old, my brother was self-medicating and drinking and using drugs. His whole life, he was in and out of jail. Around 2000, his girlfriend told me about what had happened with the therapist, and there were some things that I remembered around that time that made everything make sense. I confronted him and asked him what it happened, and he verified what his girlfriend had told me. It was heartbreaking. For years I've tried to track down this therapist, to tell him what he did to our family. My brother has since died (at 47, drank himself to death), and my parents died recently. But I'm trying to find closure. I would like to find Dr. Patrick if he's still alive, and tell him about how what he did affected our family and my parents. I honestly believe my brother's mental health issues and addiction took years off my parents' lives. I'm guessing that we were not the only Kingwood family who were victims, so I'm wondering if there were more. My mother was a well-respected and beloved high school biology teacher at both Humble and Kingwood High Schools. Her name was Re Kramer. She never knew that this happened, but my father learned only a few years ago before he passed. Now that they are gone, I feel like I can speak a little more freely about it. I don't know if my speaking out will help others, but it would be really nice to have closure on this. Thank you.

I'm sorry this happened to your family. I'm sorry we didn't move to Kingwood until the 90's. Prayers you can find closure.

I am so very sorry to hear about all of this. I pray that you find peace and closure someday, and you are getting the care that you need in your life as well. I apologize that I can't be of any help to you, our family didn't move here until the late 1980's. Best wishes to you, and good luck for your search.
Good luck with your quest. From what you posted, I'm guessing that there are/was more than one singular factor in your family's behavior. Finding that one perceived causative factor does not, in itself mean a solution of the family dysfunction. It seems, to me, that a lot of time and effort has been expended chasing a possibility that may not exist. That chase may have soured you against seeking help professionally- a direction that may have great value in helping heal the wounds, real or perceived. There are many self help groups that also offer non professional help. Google is your friend.

Some old yellow pages are digitalized. Try the library to see if they can help you track one down.

Good luck. If this happened fifty years ago, the guy might be in his mid-80s, maybe, depending on how old he was at the time. He very well may not be alive... Sorry that this happened to your family.
Digitized old Yellow Pages. Great idea! We moved here in 1976 but I don't recall anyone named Dr. Patrick.
Found this-Dr. Guillermo Patrick, MD (Humble Area)If you are remembering a local family medical doctor or general practitioner servicing the Humble and early Kingwood communities, records point to Dr. Guillermo Patrick. He operated a long-standing allopathic general medicine practice right next door to Kingwood in Humble, TX. In the 1970s and 1980s, before Kingwood developed its own specialized counseling centers, local families relied on general practitioners like Dr. Patrick for initial mental health guidance, family counseling, and medical referrals.

Terrible! So sorry for all that happened. Closure may have to come a different way since it has been so long ago...but I get where you are coming from. I had a weird thing with a Dr. as a child that I remembered as an adult but never told anyone except my husband. I did not even realize what he did was wrong at the time.
Sorry this happened to your family
we did not move here until early 90's. You might look him up re his medical license with the state board? Hope you find you are seeking.
