I have said this before on this site. I could have easily joined the police straight out of the military. They recruited heavily at Ft. Bragg. I just couldn't see risking my life when the rules of engagement were not clear. At least in the Army we had clear cut rules that governed actions. Considering the lack of support the police get from the politicians in this country, its amazing anyone volunteers to serve. And to all of you who don't understand - it is service. Its not just a job. They need our support - not petty bickering about doing kindnesses.

Airborne319 : You hit the nail on the head!!!! My BIL is a retired Harris County officer. The job changed to the point that investigating and trying to put the bad guys behind bars was wasted time as politicians, attorneys, judges made the job not only dangerous but they just turn criminals back out. Most of the folks dissing the cops have NO idea what is going on behind the scenes.... I wish many could walk a day in there shoes. See the things that can not be unseen, and see hard work be for not.
The officers are basically not allowed to do the job the were hired to do. Rant over.. LOL

No. They. Are. Not. We had a total of 12 cars broken into in my neighborhood and every one of them had their windows smashed!

Amusing and disappointing.

You elect politicians that spend your taxes eliminating consequences for committing crimes.

You leave your valuables accessible to thieves and whine about lack of police.

You complain about receiving citations when you break the law but demand police apprehend and punish a neighbor's teen that was weaving through traffic and made you miss a traffic light.

Without facts, you criticize officers performing community service. You demean them and ***** about there not being enough police presence in your community.

You complain about police not catching the bad guys your elected officials turn loose.

You assume the worst and demand the best. Given your attitude, you're obviously receiving far more than you deserve.

Thanks for providing info I already knew. The fact is, Kingwood PD is known for its horrible response.

Love the write up but…..fair to say that Kingwood Residents are in the majority of Non-Supporters (especially in the ballot booth) for the current elected officials running the CoH.

Quixote: Kingwood has a lot of those. I'd also add that there's a lot of people that blindly support something and become extremely butt-hurt if someone else shares a negative experience or opinion of it.

Not all HPD stations are created equal, and the KW is one of the worst. On the three occasions we've needed them, two times it took them nearly two hours to show up and during one incident that involved a family member that was assaulted and hiding in a closet from their abuser, it took 5 hours and 7 911 calls and they still didn't show up. I had to drive to the station and physically get an officer to respond as they were standing in the station parking lot shooting the breeze. Even after all of that, they blew it off and let the abuser go...I have no faith in the PD in KW.

Oh good grief! Tell you what. Give HPD a quick call on the non emergency number. Ask them how many BMV ( burglary motor vehicles) are as a result of people leaving their vehicle unlocked.
