Nothing will come of it. Developer might be fined, or even jailed, but the damage his behavior brought to our back door will remain.
I listened to the Michael Berry AM radio show when Michael interviewed the developer. Talk about having an answer for every question and playing the good 'ol boy. That guy really thought he was pulling the wool over everyone.
Now if they find out who else was on his payroll. Liberty county Sheriff was talked about and all the way to the Governor with political contributions .
I understand the Cartels are out there. They invested in or just wanted to have a presence in the area.
This is not just people looking for the dream.
There are very bad elements as well.
It's a no go zone for the police.
The community doesn't want to pay taxes to improve the area.
2 sides to every story

I know that they've been doing this for at least 15 years. We looked at flip some houses and drove out there when we heard there was a couple out there that were selling. We are out there. They had out houses and some of the newer houses because they had no running water. It was a just a disgrace how people were treated. So I'm sure our government has known about this for years. There's also rumors that these are mostly illegals that live there. They take advantage of them, which is terrible. Even if the government wins, the lawsuit, developer would just declare bankruptcy and no one will ever see that money they've made probably $1 billion off of that.
