Time flying by, I remember the old design at 59. Bridges over the 2 lane freeway I've been around Kingwood since the early 80s. Safeway was where Administaff/ Insperity is now. The other grocery stores were Minimax and Jamal's then later Holiday foods No fast food in Kingwood in the early 80s go to Porter or Humble. A long time ago. J Christopers was there though. That's strip center is where Jamals was, where the gym is now.

We used to drive 30 minutes to shop at that Jamail's, my Mom loved that store. A lot of money was spent at Mountasia by my household, but the kids always had so much fun there.

We could really use a flyover again. I guess there isn't enough room.

FreebyrdII : Exactly right. "Kingwood Kamikazes" was a well known moniker .
I hated crossing it. My husband loved it- he thought he was Evil Knieval jumping over the Grand Canyon .

i believe that was mistake.... to get traffic flowing we need the overpasses at northpark and Kingwood dr to connect directly to59 just like 249 connects to beltway or 59 connects to 99 even though that is partial. We have the railroad & so many stops for every street along our main roads that causes back up traffic. Up north we love the clover leaf entrances.

sure wish they kept our over pass...we have way too many stops and traffic not to direct connect to 59...same for Northpark
