No School - Voting Day

Remembering the days when I went to school on election day. We just could not use a certain area of the building as the voters came to vote.

Now that makes sense why the high school intern is coming in all day today haha

ForestFinds : I too remember those days. Elementary, Jr. High and high school gyms were used for voting.

It's used as parent conference day for elementary

I will be so glad when 7:00pm arrives. The spam texts, calls, emails and even carpet bombing here in general chat overnight with pol posts is just insane. Most who are passionate about this process went and made their choice early.

HappyDay2016: I don't ever remember being off or it being a holiday when I taught, or my kids were in school. The kids just got back in school from their fall break…?

LittleTexas : Too many school shootings today to have kids and the general population on campus at the same time.

It's safer with so many "visitors" on campus to vote. It's one day and fits well into the extended "PTO" days built into the school year now.

Yes, I got the email, and text about today being a student holiday/ staff workday, and it's on the school calendar. I don't mind it at all, and my kiddo is certainly happy. Like Everyone else, I'll also be glad to not have to see all the political ads, texts, and receive all the thousands of flyers in the mail after today. I went and did the early voting, but I hope that people take the time to get out and vote today, if they haven't had a chance to do so.

The reason for the day off is due to security issues. When I was teaching K it was always a concern even if the classroom doors are locked. They have to leave to use the restroom and lunch in the cafeteria and recess. We cannot keep them locked all day in the classroom.
