I pierced ears at the mall for years. It's safe & clean. The plastic guns are disposable one time use. Even if it is the same person who wants two piercings, it's 2 guns. They come in sterile packaging like the utensils at the dentist. "Shattering cartilage" is impossible (ever watch shark week?). There is no bruising & bleeding, I've done thousands of ears, babies and the elderly are the easiest because of thinner skin. No one gets an infection if you keep it clean. If anything, the hollow needle takes more steps and there are more chances to bruise something than a one shot gun & done.
