#msg6036258Sunnycl : Thank you for shedding light on this nutty issue. What the hell are parents thinking? Sure every kid wants one, but come on, introduce yourselves to word NO. Sheesh

Ruger5 : Some parents just give in, what I call cave easily. Children and teens pick up on this and irritate till they get what they want, some even threaten their parents or their mom . Like you either buy this or this will happen. Through my 40s and 50s dating often, many women with children were abused by their children mostly teens, as there is no man there. Many ladies that I liked had issues with thier children. Some children are even told to and even paid by the Ex to make it a living hell on her. Sad to see in person. Desperate women with such problems is common usually the sweetest, nicest ladies as well. Some even have told me they are so overwhelmed and the Ex is the main problem.

#msg6036368pickme2 : I think the bigger question is why can't drivers take responsibility for driving safely.

sheltielover : This is cope.
Most of the recent incidents aren't due to reckless driving. It's kids cutting across traffic and blowing through stop signs. A lot of these accidents likely don't involve another vehicle at all.

gmankw : I agree! There's a bonafide reason motorcycle riding is more dangerous than car riding. Pairing nitwit littles on tiny speedcycles with 4 ton chunks of steel is absolute lunacy.

I literally drive differently now…..twitching and while driving is not a positive thing. I've seen too many dart across 4 ways intersections without looking even one way…..caught on camera right here in kw a near fatality ….and in my hood, while numbers have gone down in recent months, gangs of elementary age riders taking over neighbor roadways….six across the entire street. Insane!

Likely do not involve another vehicle? WTH does that mean? Try facts. Quit driving if you do not want the responsibility.

gmankw : I think about this a lot. I'm generally a cautious driver, but I've seen some kids blow through red lights and stop signs without the slightest pause. If there was a car blocking vision, and the light is green, a car may have no chance to stop by the time they saw a kid. I really, really do not want to have the experience of running over a child, even if it's not my fault.

Joe :
AI Summary

Yes, driving entails the responsibility to control speed and be aware of all road users, including e-bikes, to prevent collisions. Drivers must remain vigilant and adhere to traffic laws to ensure safety for everyone on the road.

Do not drive if you do not want the responsibility.

You don't need AI to talk to me...
The fact is, kids driving in a crazy way, could easily result in a driver killing one by accident, despite best reasonable and cautious efforts not to kill anyone. I don't want that to happen...has nothing to do with not taking on responsibility.

This thread is stupid. I'm surprised someone hasn't blamed fire ants for these accidents yet

Joe :
Then I suggest driving with responsibility for everyone on the road. When at intersections in KW, I would suggest extra caution for Bikes, E-bikes and pedestrians, many of our crosswalks on greenbelts are blind crossing, treat them as such. People have to commute around not only cars.

pickme2 :
Come on...that's not realistic, and nobody drives cautious enough to prevent collision with an out of control ebike. At an intersection, if there is a truck on your left, you are coming down the road, come up to your light, but you have had a clear green light for a while now, do you drive through, or do you come to a full stop, get your nose past the truck, check the greenbelt is clear, and then drive through? Nobody does that second option, and it has nothing to do with being responsible.

pickme2 : The exception to your last sentence is that littles do not need to commute anywhere on speed bikes designed for adult thinking mentality capabilities. In fact, why isn't it against the law? Oh wait, it already is! Now to enforce. Will the adults in the room please stand up and do the right thing?

Joe :
The realistic part is that you killed someone, fault not included. This effort to try and ban or blame parents and kids for these accidents is ludicrous. Remember the adage Texas has, share the road.

What law prevents kids from riding e-bikes? Seeing how you spend time in NYC you have seen the commuters of all ages.

pickme2 : Or better yet, let's have a law against allowing littles to be placed in foreseeable danger in the first place. It won't prevent deaths, but it will most certainly reduce them……why is this not a no brainer? Littles on e-bikes have NO business sharing roadways with 4 ton chunks of steel.

pickme2 : Nobody drives like you're implying they need to drive. Not even the most responsible drivers on the road.

I think reasonable rules are appropriate here - speed limits for scooters, licensing requirements for more dangerous scooters driven by under aged kids; heavy, costly penalties to parents when kids break rules (like speeding, running lights, or not wearing a helmet)...
