Ring and Run

Did they just ring, or bash the door? My nieghbor had his whole front door kicked down a couple years ago.

Gigix4 :
Ugh, and waking the whole family, with your heart beating in your chest--scary I understand they are 'just being kids', but these days, this can have a tragic outcome.

Joe : So far, just rang. By the time I got to the front door, they were gone.

Gigix4 : That is pretty dangerous, going to knock on the wrong door one night.

UptownGirl : It shouldn't be dangerous…although annoying and obnoxious, no one should be shooting kids for ringing doorbells.

Joe : Correct, but it happened last year in Houston. Guy shot/killed a kid who did it and was charged. You never know what people will do, may be scared and not taking any chances who it might be. Still dangerous to take a that chance.

Joe : that kid has a story to tell for years haha luckily it doesn't sound like it was malicious

JerryJustice : which would make getting shot for a silly prank all the more sad.you never know when you're gonna knock on the wrong door. someone who shoots first & asks questions later

Joe : Ringing? No. Kicking somebody's door down? Absolutely.

I had this happen a few years ago. But they didn't ring and run. They were banging on the door and then ran. My neighbor caught up with them on the greenbelt. Probably scared them.
Last week my neighbors4 year old rang my ring doorbell and ran about 4 in the afternoon. Her mom was chasing her.

JerryJustice : I don't think it was funny…it was three grown teenagers, harassing neighbors…the neighbor's three young daughters were pretty traumatized by it.

Joe :
There are pranks and there beyond a prank. In my day we called to ask if their refrigerator was running. That would still be harmless. If they called to claim my grandchild has been harmed, a malicious level. Last year there was a ding, dong, ditch in which the fleeing kid was shot. Maybe killed, I don't remember. Bashing the door down is beyond the pale. There are too many people with guns itching to shoot.
