Trump just threatened to start another war

© provided by AlterNet On Friday, while speaking at a rally in Fort Myers, Florida, President Donald Trump threatened to launch a new war "on our way back from Iran." In Trump's estimation, what the voters want right now is another war -- this time with Cuba. What's more, he appeared to momentarily struggle to remember the name of the government he's currently fighting.
"We have the greatest military equipment in the world. You saw that in Venezuela and you see now in...the national," Trump paused for a moment, then seemed to tell himself to "think of it," before exclaiming, "The Islamic Republic of Iran will tell you that we have the best equipment." A comment from someone in the audience sent him on a new topic. "He wants to know what about Cuba," said Trump. "Give me a break. Don't worry -- we'll take Cuba on our way back from Iran," he said, making a serpentine motion with his hand. After repeating the motion, he assured the crowd, "We'll do a little stopover. Actually, what we're gonna do with Cuba is we're going to come back from Iran, those beautiful ships will pass Cuba, we'll have one of them stop about 50 yards off the coast, they'll raise up their hands, and then we're gonna send [Secretary of State] Marco Rubio in to finish up the thing." Rubio -- the son of Cuban immigrants -- has long had the island nation in his crosshairs. "All roads have been leading to Cuba for [Rubio]," the Guardian was told by a longtime Rubio acquaintance. "He has wanted this for a long time and now he finally has the authority [to reach that goal]." The White House has been open about its designs on Cuba over the course of Trump's second term, particularly after the rapid success of his incursion into Venezuela, seemingly bolstered by the ease of capturing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. While the administration levied an oil blockade against Cuba -- reportedly causing widespread harm to the Cuban people -- talk of a military venture regarding the island has largely faded into the background as Trump's wildly unpopular war with Iran has dragged on. Americans have been outraged by the rising prices caused by the war, largely driven by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and rising fuel prices that resulted. Trump offered his thoughts on that in Fort Myers as well, claiming, "Oil prices will soon plummet and oil prices are coming down very substantially. They're coming down much faster. You know, when I did this, we hit the all-time high." Oil prices are not, in fact, "coming down very substantially." According to the Wall Street Journal, after hitting a five-month high on Thursday, oil prices continued to rise to another high on Friday "as the market remains on edge about the possibility of the Middle East conflict escalating with renewed U.S.-Iran hostilities and further attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure."

He's probably hoping for a quick win. Venezuela was not a war, just a kidnapping. His unnecessary war in Iran is dragging on with no victory in sight. Why doesn't he focus on domestic issues?

Because, he has no answers for domestic issues and the "wars" at least serve as a distraction from that fact.
#msg6038065so does he get a Nobel Prize if he picks a war with Cuba? Or maybe a Pulitzer?
Are you familiar with the Marvel No Prize? It was an empty envelope they used to send readers who pointed out mistakes to the writers and artists of Marvel Comics back in the day. Those unopened envelopes are worth some cash these days. Maybe he would like that. 🤭
Quick it will not be. Cuban society is not what Rubio and the moneyed South Florida Cuban emigres left. There is a rapidly growing community right around here. They are not the old money private school family society. They got educated because the Batista fat cats left. They don't want Castro or pre-Castro Cuba. They'll fight for their Cuba, Marti's vision for Cuba.
I think he's trying to firm up the Cuban American vote in South Florida. They fielded terrible Senate and Governor candidates. Byron Donalds' dirty linen is now under real, not Fox News.'

I have lots of Venezuelan friends here and in Miami. Some are very happy, some the opposite. The Velutini, Habba, Betancourt deals pus no Maria Corina Machado scare many Venezuelans.

That great for them, thing have been getting worse in the USA the last two years, everyone of my friends tell me they are worse off, along with their family.

I believe it and so do they. It's really easy, just look your bills vs you income, if you are like 90 % of America it tells the story of a failed administration.
My 401 k is speaking volumes and I am so happy with our present administration!

Like I said 90 % of Americans are struggling big time. 401s are worthless until you cash them in. I have seen them go up and down, and when they crash people jump out windows. Diversety (the dirty woke word) is the key to investments.
Venezuelans that want a democracy think that leaving the same people in charge of the country with only taking Maduro away is not Democracy. Same Chavistas control the country and their lives and their freedoms. On top of that the corruption is the same with different names. They call it El Sistema, the system.
The unofficial press in Venezuela reportedntoday that Alejandro Betancourt the businessman wanted by Swiss banking and Spanish courts was seen with Trump's chosen president, Delcy Rodriguez. It's news because it is the 2nd time in 16 years that he has been seen in Venezuela. Many Venezuelans want to know why he has been given control of much of their petroleum industry. Swiss banking authorities suspect him of very significant fraud., Spanish authorities suspect him of perpetrating significant fraud through a sunglasses company. Interpol agents saw him go into his castle, raided it and did not find him, but did find several passport. Trump's people intervened to prevent his arrest. El Sistema.
