Humble ISD Board Changes Review Process for Some Library Materials Humble ISD trustees changed part of the library-material review process at their October 20th meeting. The change affects campus libraries across the district, including Kingwood, Humble and Atascocita schools. School Library Advisory Council recommendations are now no longer required for materials without a pending challenge, materials already approved by the board, or reorders with new ISBN numbers because of rebinding or cover changes. Trustee Oscar Silva requested the agenda item. He said requiring another review for a different binding of a book already on the shelves created extra work for the council and delays for librarians.

Thank goodness. This is a start in the right direction. Librarians and their staff and volunteers should not be hindered in doing their jobs by policies that are not well written.
