E-bikes are not the problem. The mentality of children, teens, and even reckless adults on E-bikes that is the problem. E-bikes can be useful or deadly based on who is riding them.

Drivers are also impatient, drive fast and get distracted on their phones . Regular bike riders get hit pretty often also.

Sunnycl : Thank you for shedding light on this nutty issue. What the hell are parents thinking? Sure every kid wants one, but come on, introduce yourselves to word NO. Sheesh

Law enforcement needs to wake up and get involved and stopping this craziness before more kids wind up dead. Most cops think they're babysitters they need to get out there and do their job when I when I speak with them one of them will tell me well in my opinion they're not doing nothing wrong they could be doing worse come on man let the kids have a little fun yeah they wind up having a little fun under the wheels of a 4x4 they need to be stopped they need to be taken off the street I was going down West lake Houston parkway during school and out yesterday and those kids come out there in hoards on those little scooters zipping up and down the sidewalks and across the streets I don't know how many got hurt but something has to be done besides the Constable of precinct 4.

Every 13 minutes someone is killed in a car wreck, every minute 5 people are injured in a car wreck. This is USA only. Why can these adults not learn to drive. The police need to do a better job.

I think the bigger question is why can't drivers take responsibility for driving safely.

It's hard to control your motor vehicle when one of those kids darts out in front of you from behind a parker pickup truck or another automobile you can't stop there's no possible way you drive defensively and look out for other cars you're not looking for scooters or mini bikes.. kids do not have the experience for knowledge be on the street.

When driving in neighborhoods, which Kingwood is, you better be watching out for children all the time. If you do not want to be around children, Kingwood is not the place for you.

I totally agree. We've had a problem with young kids on mini bikes in our neighborhood for several years....long before these e-bikes. Many near misses. My comment was to the idea that police are somehow responsible for making adults be better drivers. People have to take responsibility for their driving and the kids (and their parents) need to take responsibility for their driving too.

You can watch out for children, but you can't make the children watch out for you or make them react responsibly when they do see you. I've seen children on bikes do just about all they could to cause an accident. This is a parent problem...thinking that everyone should watch my kid, but me. The day will surely come when there will be a tragic accident...no matter how much the adult driver tries to avoid it. Taunting fate and drivers will never end well for the person on the smaller vehicle.

Our neighbors eight year old was killed going after a ball in the street by a driver. It changed that drivers life for ever and that young kid never got a chance to drive. Driving is a privilege with responsibility. When in Kingwood you should drive like there is a kid darting out in front of you all the time. Children will not watch out for you, be the adult.

That is so sad. I always feel bad for the drivers who simply couldn't do anything to prevent the accident.
