OBSD68 : Wow! That gives me goosebumps! I wonder if you might contact the organization that maintains the Vietnam Memorial Wall to find out more??? I'm thankful you remember his name and have some closure about him.

djcodyblue : I totally understand that. But you had it for a while and he was on your mind; still is. Maybe he made it home safely. Let's hope so.

I still have the bracelet, I saw it a week or so ago. Now, if I can just remember where I saw it. I could never allow myself to throw it away.

Wow! That's incredible! I know you must be so relieved! I have to wonder what AIC means. Put it in a safe spot!! Thank you so much for sharing your excitement about finding the bracelet!

Also, I just added a photo of my bracelet to my original post.
I would love to post the article I found of Lt. Col. Hall. Great photo of him and also a picture of him standing in front of his RF-1 Voodoo. Looks like state of the art during that time.

Very touching story. I am so glad you found out your Hero made it home. I honor his long service to our Great Country! Somewhere years ago I lost mine.

Did you wear a POW-MIA bracelet during the Vietnam War?

I came across mine the other day. I always wondered about the soldier I committed to pray for during that time. All I knew was his name, rank, and date he went missing in action. While in DC in the late 90s, I visited the Wall to find out if he made it home. Such a strange feeling came over me as I searched for and didn't find his name. Thank God he made it! I've kept the bracelet all these years; don't ask me why. This week I decided to Google him. Lord, have mercy! He was a hero! 2 Silver Stars. Lt. Col. George Hall, born in 1930, went missing on September 27, 1965. I found pictures of him along with a full write up on his military career on a website called "Veteran Tributes." He was shot down (196th combat mission) over North Vietnam on a combat mission in his RF-1 Voodoo. He ejected and was immediately captured and taken as a Prisoner of War. Lt. Col. Hall was released during Operation Homecoming in February 1973. He came home and continued his incredible career. Knowing this about the soldier I prayed for a lifetime ago makes me smile and gives me a sense of peace. Lt. Col. Hall passed away in 2014 at the age of 84. Rest In Peace.

P.S. If I knew how to copy and paste the page from Veteran Tributes I would.

SteveT : I'm speechless. Thank you for doing this. I'd like to find out about a friend who was killed, but all I know is his first and last name, no rank or date. Will this website work? He was never MIA or a POW.

#msg6025799TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Just wanted to mention that I also had a pen pal that was serving on an aircraft carrier. I can remember his name, but not sure of the name of the aircraft carrier. That was a very special connection; handwritten letters are much more personal. If I recall correctly, it continued off and on once he returned home somewhere on the upper east coast.

newgranny2020 : That is very special. I wish you could look him up.

newgranny2020 :
Yes, I had one. It was copper. After I learned of the death of the soldier (his name was on the traveling wall), I found the name and address of his parents thanks to folks set up on tables around the wall. Pre-computers! I mailed the bracelet to them.
