As a walker, I've nearly been hit many times by e-bikes on trails. Am I walking along the right side? Yes. Am I talking to someone else or have earphones on? No.
But I still don't hear them when they come up behind me and whiz by. As a driver, I have found that even my 2026 whiz bang no-collusion warning system cannot always see these e-bikes until too late. I have not hit anyone, but I have been scared. If you ride an e-bike, you need a bike bell like everyone else. You need a helmet on. You need to take care and slow down in pedestrian areas....because if you hit pedestrians, you can be sued. It is not just kids riding these things. Walk the River/Creek trails and see adults running pedestrians and other bikes off the trail. Glad you are having fun, because the rest of us are not.

#msg6025677kingwooddiscgolf : Did you ever do china berries in sling shots? They weren't lethal but they definitely left a mark!
I have 2 and ride pretty much every day. Most of the time, I come to a stop to allow others to pass in the opposite direction. My biggest challenge is the older person with head down, looking at their phone, with ear buds or headset. Ebikes are not going away. They're great. My rides are around 9 miles, about half on the streets and half on the greenbelts. I find that most folks are kind and courteous.
