I am curious as to what Christians think about the death penalty.
Kaylagirl : I'm a Christian. I oppose the death penalty but not on religious grounds. I oppose it for a few reasons. There is always a chance the person executed was actually innocent. It does not deter crime, and it costs the taxpayers more to execute someone than it does to keep them in prison for life.

Cbear : This case is going to be a feeding frenzy for attorneys. Maybe even a triple jeopardy issue if they try to do it again ?
billcherie2 : It will be interesting and educating to follow.

Cbear : I am not personally big on the death penalty, primarily because it does not deter anyone from killing another person, and psychopaths will always be psychopaths. But, I understand why it is a form of punishment; if they are going to do it, then it should be foolproof. Go back to firing squads or the electric chair, if they can't get decent enough veins for lethal injections.

Im Christian and I do believe in the death penalty. If you can forgive them for killing your loved one, good for them. Not sure I could. I personally feel whomever definitely killed someone should not get to live in a warm place, 3 meals a day, and the best medicine, free. I use to call on the pharmacy at Angola prison in Louisiana. Got a real education. The thing that made me the maddest was that they bought the best medicines for every disease. HIV patients lived in a separate building and got the newest, best medicine. This lady in Tennessee could live on that ventilator forever! And it is NOT cheap. Firing squad would be quick, effective and cheap. Wow-- sounds severe. But what she did was worse.
JCajun : I understand how you feel. We get to pay for "3 hots and a cot" for 30 years. Now, she is in the hospital on someones dime. The crime she committed was pretty gruesome.

I am now reading that she and a boyfriend on the outside and a prison guard worked a scheme for her to try to escape... and she strangled a girl in prison. This girl is definitely evil and rotten to the core.
Kaylagirl : I was thinking that since the lethal injections didn't work, I wonder if they threw holy water on her if that would have worked?!
