My electric bill is still crazy high. Is everyone else going through this too? And what company do you all use?

Inconceivable13 : Mine was 500.00. Pretty much highest it's been in ages. Not too bad for its size, but still sucks.

Our bill was somewhat higher than normal for this time of year however September was incredibly hot so a higher bill was expected.

Massive electric bills for months, quite ridiculous. Only the beginning of massive bills for everything. Water bill is also out of control. 100s. Apparently whatever it takes to break the backs of the American working class. Will get much worse as the Americans are still trying to make it. So counties like Harris increased your taxes to make it even harder. Next year will continue to climb as there is nothing we can do to stop it. The people that make these decisions are not effected or possibly paid off.

Inconceivable13 : It's not so much the company, but when you sign your contract and what the rates are at that time. Go to powertochoose.org and see what options are available when it is time to renew.

August and September are usually my highest electricity bill months because the AC runs the most then, because Houston is ridiculously hot and humid.

I have Heritage power and I paid almost $700 this past month before that it was 650. It's time to renew, but I don't want to renew with them. I think they're a little too high.

sweetie : Eeeek! When do you renew? I am with Gexa. They offered a monthly credit of $125 when you meet a 1k usage. Obviously we know that as a pool owner, pretty easy to meet. I am not staying with them however.

Cbear : I had Gexa and they got so high that it went to heritage power and they were good for a year and now this year it's been outrageous

Inconceivable13 :
I look at this stuff for my job. September was 4 degrees warmer than normal. It was more like a typical August!

For rates, go to powertochoose.org, especially if you are on a monthly contract or if your plan is about to expire. Stay away from plans with big usage credits... Those are basically designed to pick your pocket.

Finally... If you can live with it, turn your AC up. We use a very thin blanket in the summer and the AC is on 75 at night. My summer bills are about $200 (1800 kWh).

buffaloglenn : Yep AND what are they setting their temp at? Plans vary but rates are always going UP. Use ceiling fans, close blinds.
