Flood watch issued

Flood Watch issued until 7 PM Friday.

Showers and thunderstorms capable of producing heavy downpours will impact the watch area through Friday evening.

Embedded training rain rates of 2-4 inches per hour will be possible with the deep tropical airmass overhead. Locations that experience training storms with heavier rainfall rates may experience rapid runoff that could result in flash flooding.

Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Stay weather aware and be ready to take action when Flash Flood Warnings are issued, particularly wireless emergency alert Flash Flood Warnings for considerable and/or catastrophic flooding.

This batch is slow moving and causing a lot of issues to our west.  It is currently creeping in our direction so we could definitely see heavy rainfall tonight and into tomorrow evening.

Stay safe!

LittleTexas : It's trying based on what model you look at.

Recent model runs are quicker to kill off activity while HRRR runs keep robust convection for a few more hours.

Scattered new growth is apparent in satellite imagery, so a solution similar to recent HRRRs with an additional 3-5" are probably decent.

Flash flooding is considered possible with up to 3" an hour falling areas to our west.

e : It's very slow moving. If it continues to hold, I'd say after 9pm - unless a cell pops up in front of the line & then it could be any time.

StormChaser :
Thank you as always for keeping this uninformed old lady up to date on all things weather. Is this trend supposed to continue through the weekend or even into next week?
