Sweetpeas6 :
I would also definitely advise to look for something else while you are still currently employed. It's always a better idea to have something lined up before you leave a job. I was looking while I was employed at my last job, but was laid off before I was able to secure something else.

beadweaver : Exactly. I always looked for myself. If I saw something I thought a friend or coworker would be interested in, I'd forward to them. It's good to be aware of what is out there.

I believe it is smart to have a new job secured before resigning a current job.

Sweetpeas6: all I can suggest is don't jump unless you have another ship to land on. Bills still need paid. So many jump thinking they, I got this. Then wish they planned better. If just going to jump at least make sure to have 3-6months of $ saved for ALL bills & expenses. If you have always wanted to do something yet don't have the skills consider taking 1-2 classes at Lonestar to gain the knowledge. Talk to friends / family etc about keeping an eye out for opportunities for you.
In your free time look on Indeed or other job posting sites. Apply to anything that sounds fun or interesting. You might be surprised at what will come your way!

Sweetpeas6: I'm sorry if this is going to sound odd but what kind of jobs do those get you? There are many companies out there that will train you too. I've always been trained to Never take the 1st offer for pay at any job. Most people take the low pay because they just want change or need a job.
If I was you I would make a list of your wants & needs. Don't just throw something down, Really put thought into what you need to cover your bills & extra activities. Where do you want to be in 5-10 years, do you want retirement, health insurance, 401K, vacation time etc. Then
start looking and applying.

Sweetpeas6: you can always go to Texas Workforce Solutions on 1960 just west of 59. They should have the means to help you find a good job as well. If you take advantage of everything they offer they can help with training, resumes, interviewing techniques, etc. They have computers with ALL the jobs from every walk of life. Plus they have different companies that job job fairs onsite & off. I would look into everything from this to Indeed, friends / family etc.
Some say the job market is bad yet honestly, I find it very strong! Not sure your age but the railroads are always hiring (Union Pacific Railroad & BNSF) which tons of women work for & you can have an incredible life experience!

In my working days, I would stay employed while looking for something better. Low salary is better than no salary.

I just helped someone get a job. He has a construction / clean up job. Between weather and ice issues the owner has less work. Also the person I know was out sick for 3 weeks. (Shingles) The new job guarantees 40 hours with about 5-10 with OT. The pay is low. Entry level. He is not happy, but it beats Uber and waiting for his previous boss to call him back. Bills
Still need to get paid.
