Car modification for Wheelchairs

Friend is tired of wrecking her back and wants to load her mom's electric wheelchair into her car in a less brute force sort of way.

Does anyone have a business to recommend to give some options? They would prefer to not have to purchase a new vehicle.

They live on the West side of Houston but the greater area is workable.

To add-
Her mom sits in car seat normally. She can transfer.

The wheelchair is going in the rear of a Subaru Forrester- small SUV.

Ok. There is a company we used when buying a van that modified it for DH.
Adaptive Driving Access, now a part of United Access. Number back then was 713 874 9100. This was back in 2020 so hopefully is still good number. Is good for a start anyways.
I think they also can modify existing vehicle or steer you to one who does this work.
Good luck!

Annie : I used to work near 249/Beltway. There was a place called ADA that I drove by every day. Looks like they've changed their name to United Access. No personal experience with them, but it's near you.

Reivax : That is where DH gets his vehicle worked on when there are issues I believe.

mutton : I always thought it looked clean, well maintained. That's always a good sign for a business. Had a lot of time to look at it what with the snail's pace of beltway in the morning at that bend!

ADA, now United Access, is where we had extensive experience for my late BIL. They first installed a lift in a large SUV. A few years later they adapted a truck where they installed a power lifted camper top on the truck bed, a lift for the chair that lifted the chair out of the truck bed and transferred the chair to the driver's door, plus adapted the driver's seat to lift the driver out of the truck. It was amazing and gave him independence. It was not ceap but worth every penny.

Kittle : Yes! They modified existing van in 2003 and then one we were buying in 2020. I recognized the 249 place when reivax mentioned seeing it.
