What the living hell is happening to our Kingwood?

I grew up in Kingwood. Attended K-12 in the 80s and 90s. Revealing clothes, hookup culture, alcohol, drugs, teens being teens, etc was just as prevalent then as it is now. If anything, it's probably gotten better on substance abuse and drinking. Kingwood is a boring town for teens and young adults. Boredom plus disposable income plus hormones produces results no amount of values, faith, or zip code can tame. A lot of things happen in those woods that are out of view; always have and always will. Parents being present in their kids lives would have helped when I was growing up…a lot of dads focused on careers and moms focused on themselves. It was too easy…

I think this is good perspective…some things have changed, but many remain the same. Actually, I saw a report that underage drinking is down pretty significantly in recent years, with the peak being around 1995. And smoking overall has dropped dramatically…I found data that 27% of teens reported occasional cigarette use in 1991, and now only 10% report any tobacco use, with ecigs being more common than regular cigarettes, which consensus has been that these are less harmful overall.

buffaloglenn : costco short dress? tell me more! I snapped a pic of a fully grown *** woman dressed so utterly inappropriate I clutched my pearls & snapped a pic. I am stunned at the lack of common sense standards among some. I'd gladly take grown women shopping in their fuzzy robe & slippers over half naked ladies ….. not teenagers……fully grown women. SMH yes I have many opinions I am only too happy to share😁

fostersmiller : I think things like this have always gone on everywhere. The difference is that social media is now in the picture so everything is public which used to be private. I'm glad cell phones weren't around when I was in high school. lol

Exactly. It only seems worse since now with everything we have available to record and share.

KanKan : in part yes, but I do believe things have gotten worse than recent years, which comes with population explosion I guess you could say.
