City moves to eliminate dangerous pool at abandoned Kingwood hom
I wonder why the owner didn't sell. Like to hear the back story on things like this. With the number of flippers it seems like it would have been an out for the owner.

My friend put in that pool. She sold the house a long time ago. It's a shame because it was a nice house when she lived there.

Cbear : It's a couple of houses down from the house we bought for Dad. We had a caretaker in there to care for him. I used to push him in his wheelchair and tell him I was going to buy it and be his neighbor. Then I could bring him home for dinner every night. It's a great house… but totally abandoned. The fence from the driveway to the backyard has been down for a long time, exposing the pool. Pool is so green that if a child or animal fell in, no one would know. So sad.
bigla : I would think that...the pool would be nearly black! Heck, there could be a gator in there!!

PlaneCrazy : I'm curious too! Many homes in Kingwood have been bought by management companies, repaired and are now rental homes.
Cbear : How is this any more dangerous than a creek or the Fosters Mill ponds?
CMuckachuck : I just shared an article. Notice, I did not personally share my input. That said, I am a homeowner with a pool and I know the liabilities. The gate needs to be closed at all times. If a child wandered onto my property and fell in, I am responsible since I failed to secure it. An argument could be made that the child was "trespassing". I am NOT going to find out.

Cbear : I get it, but disagree. If that pool is so dangerous, then the COH better get to building gates and fences around every pond in Kingwood.

CMuckachuck : I can't speak for all bodies of water in Kingwood however, the ones that I have seen all have signs saying No swimming and caution about gators as a disclaimer.
Cbear : I guess what I'm trying to say is that I could create a Top 20 list of dangerous things in KW and this pool with 6 inches of water in it wouldn't make that list.
