Estate Sales and Parking!
If I know something is going on and I have somewhere to go later I just pull my car out early and park on the street.

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : I do feel for people that park in front of my house on one end. My about 90 year old neighbor leaves about 3 times a day. He has hit two friends cars. I always run out and remind family and friends you might not want to part there. It was worse when his wife still drove. She would come over my curb. But she never hit a car.

Gingersnap : WOW! That is a good reason not to park across from a driveway.
Estate Sales and Parking! I love going to estate sales and went to 3 today here in the Kingwood area. Does it bother you when people in your area have an estate sale? Do you stand outside and tell people they can't park on the street? Do you spend your entire day monitoring the parking situation? If so are you exhausted at the end of the day? It was a hot one! I hope you drank enough water. They will be there tomorrow too. Rest up for another day of monitoring! Just remember, most likely the people who lived there have either died, are now in a nursing home, or living with family. Whoever is handling their affairs has to get rid of all the stuff in that house. They most likely need to sell it so they can pay off debt, hospital bills, nursing home, maybe settle the estate. We will all eventually have to sell it. Our kids will not want much of it! Hopefully, they have their own by the time we are gone. We should give people in this situation some grace cause we will want grace when it is our time. What's a few days of street congestion~ it's only a few days!

Cbear : That is the thing to do. I would ask them if they wanted it before I got rid of it. My MIL got rid of stuff she shouldn't have. She was a minimalist and took it a bit far towards the end. In comparison, my parents are hoarders. They don't get rid of anything. UHG, it's going to be difficult! I am sure my sister and I will need some help.

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Thanks for posting this. We love estate sales but are always respectful of the neighbors around the estate sale. Some get irate. But please be patient with the family having the estate sale. It usually is a traumatic time for that family.

smokey545 : You are right! It is a very traumatic time for the family and they kind of need their neighbors to be kind. It is sad when people get irate over something that will only last a few days. It is such a waste of their energy.
smokey545 : i try to do the same, and will park a good block or more away, to avoid parking snarls. makes it easier when leaving, too.
We try to put cones on one side of the road. Most neighbors are very kind and understanding. Most of the time they knew the homeowner and come over to reminisce or buy something to remember them by. We have only had a few individuals that thought they were going to accomplish something by calling the cops or yelling at our customers. The vast majority of people are kind.
GoldenGirl : I am so glad you posted this. It was not your sale I observed neighbors not being neighborly. I know it is difficult for you to take care of the sale and monitor the parking. I have noticed you generally give parking instructions on your listings. It does come in handy.
GoldenGirl: the people that reacted negatively, were probably ones who do that on the regular 
we have been luckily and only had one neighbor who was just impossible, even though his wife and I got along well. he came over early on and tried to tell my Boys Dad that we had prepared a stone wall that was actually on his property. he had no idea that my Boys Dad had a masters and engineering and he had certainly done all the due diligence before spending all the money it took to make that unsafe wall really beautiful and solid. This neighbor was demanding and ugly, and cursing in front of my kids who were three and five, at the time. my son's father walked in and got the papers to verify what he was saying, went over and knocked on his door, handed them to him., gave him time to read them and grabbed them back out of his hands, and said " i feel sorry for your wife"
