driver was in his late 70's; info is that he got 'confused' over which pedal in the car was the brake, which was the accelerator.

It was not the owner of the shop that ran into the building. That statement was corrected by 2 news. Tragic situation nonetheless.
That shopping center will definitely be a co-defendant, along with the driver, when the lawsuits are filed. Reading that this is the 3rd similar incident in that center. They should have installed improved barriers previously to protect the businesses, customers and workers.

Hugs to your DD and her coworkers.
wondering the same thing - the guy wasn't even in a legit parking space. I still don't get how you can drive so far into the store without stopping even after hitting the curb. Its time to stop driving if your reaction time is so slow. Lives completely altered because of this.

They definitely need to start doing driving tests at a certain age. It's hard to get people to stop driving. You can't put that on the kids to take the keys away.
From what I'm seeing most people do need to review driving rules. So many speeding, running stop signs and red lights. I didn't go very far today and witnessed a red light runner and another car go 25 thru a 4 way stop sign. Those can't all be accidents. People are in way too much hurry. And don't think about I'm driving a deadly vehicle. Ugh!!!!
donnatella, SummerSneeze and LittleTexas reacted Btw, I've been upset for the young lady who lost her life ever since I heard about this.
I am 70, and I Totally agree with you. I know a friend of my bil's who is 76, and can hardly hold a coffee cup due to shaking hands, and has lots of mobility problems. I understand this all, but he has and Uses a driver's license. The problem with this is that there are Others out there, that one can hurt, when impaired. The force it took to jump that curb and go that far into the building says that the driver hit the gas pedal pretty hard.
