Italiano’s Review

Went to Italiano's yesterday. Being Italian, it is hard for me to be impressed by other's Italian food. Boy, was I surprised.  I had the lasagna and my husband had the manicotti. Absolutely delicious. I even ordered a stromboli to go for dinner.

We will definitely be going back.

Italiano's is dangerous for me. I see one then want all the garlic knots in the building. So good and oh so dangerous. Actually, everything I've ever had at any of their locations has been very good. Glad you liked it.

I used to love the garlic knots but the past several times they have been hard and old tasting. I wish they would make them fresh and they would be soft and pillowy again. I don't even eat them anymore if they are hard.

Weathergirl5 : I haven't experienced that personally, but that would definitely help me resist. Part of the draw to them is when they are fresh, hot and soft.

I don't want them anymore either. But I still love bread. And Roadhouse rolls are a danger for me.
I usually order the lunch chicken Parmesan with Alfredo noodles instead of spaghetti and get extra marinara sauce. At least 2 to 3 meals for me.

Weathergirl5: I so agree.the garlic knots have definitely changed; back in the day, they were actually made of the pizza dough and they were fabulous. now ,it seems like they're using some inexpensive, thin though that gets very dry ,and hard, so I don't eat them now. I do like their food and their service is good and the prices are great. I just don't eat the bread anymore.Emoticon
I wish we had one in our area too, but Adriatic Grill (there is one in spring on 45 ,and one down 99 from Valley Ranch, has bread that I think is actually illegal. It is so good.! they have great lunch specials too, and two of us can eat for under $25 including the tip because if you order an entrée at lunch, it comes with a small salad and of course, all of that delicious free bread!

I agree. I used to love them and I would go there sometimes just for the rolls, but not recently. I hope they get back to making them fresh.

I just wish their alfredo was more traditional. You don't put cream in it! I find most of their white pastas are drowning in cream.

Pickles56 : We love Italiano's and have been going there for 29 years. There are several location, Kingwood on Northpark, Humble at 59 and 1960, Atascocita on 1960, and a new location at Valley Ranch at 59 and 99. Which location did you try? I am looking foreword to trying the Valley Ranch location.

Weathergirl5 : The garlic knots at the KW location are a disappointment. Go to the location in Atascocita. They still make them the way they were made 20+ years ago. We went there on Sunday and I could not help myself. I had the Greek Salad with grilled chicken with 3 of the bread knots. OMG, they are so good and addicting!

TEXASGIRLMAMMA :
Maybe that is the problem. I usually go to the KW one (ever since they opened) because they are closer, but I might just have to try that location next time I have a hankering for them! Thanks for the information.
